Hi! I bought myself a valver as i have had a secret love for them for years. Now, i have heard the rumours about French cars falling apart... And the altenator died on the way home! I was a bit gutted and worst of all the Mrs was well hacked off lol. My question is if anyone has done a picture by picture thread on how to change them. Im a Vauxhall man normally so this is the first frenchy i will have worked on and there's not much room is there?! I Google it and apparently there's a thread on a Williams owners club but you have to pay to see it.

Can anyone help out??

Cheers :)

Yea sorry should have specified its a phase 1 clio. Also, where abouts on the Altenator is the part number likely to be?

Should say it on the side opposite the belt pulley, or a sticker, you can just see if you look under the inlet manifold. Could be harder on the Clio because the bay is smaller. I did one on my old 19, and it was straight forward enough to unbolt, just a bit fiddly to get out the bay.

Loosen the tensioner on the right side of it to slacken the belt. There is a long bolt with a nut running along the bottom of it at the front, and I think two bolts underneath. Good luck getting out the bay (:
