Hi
Im arron just just joined the forum as im interested in buying a clio v6 in the near future. Im not an avid renault fan by any stretch of the imagination however there is something about the v6 thats just me! Ive always been into weird and different cars and the v6 just seems like the next step into my random car fettish lol
At this minute i drive an 82' BMW E21, not fast but cool as...

Ive not had it long and i do adore it however ive got the itch again ever since i finished my mk1 golf, was pritty rapid...

Im a defo retro car nut and the v6 is a true cult car and going to go old gracefully, this is what appeals to me!

Ive been looking into the phase 1 v6 as i dont have a good £15k to spend on the phase 2 however is there a real huge difference between them both i dont wanna go buy the phase 1 and be dissapointed. Secondly ive been told not great things about the handling in both wet and dry conditions, as ill be doing the odd track day in it i want something thats going to go round bends without spitting me into the gravel.

Any help on this would be fantastic!
Cheers
Arron

Hi Aaron and welcome to the forum :welcome:

I recently bought a Ph1 and like you I didn't want to stretch to the budget required for a Ph2. It cost me just under £8k. Make sure you get a warranty if you are buying from a dealer. I did and they had to fork out £1200 to sort out a mis-firing issue so well worth it.

I can't really comment on the handling compared to the Ph2 so I'll leave that to the other very friendly and knowledgible peeps on here. I am aware of the possible handling characteristics of the Ph1 and haven't build up enough confidence to drive it that hard. Needless to say my driving style is with the utmost respect for the car. But the looks I get from other drivers on the road, especially "Baz" in his pimped-up-crashed-into-Halfords motor constaintly makes me grin

If you decide to join the wonderful and exciting world of owning a V6, post the car details on here BEFORE you commit to buy. The price of paying the £10 for full membership and getting access to the register could be invaluable. One chap put down a deposit for a Vee only find out it had been rolled in a previous life. Lucky escape...

Happy hunting!

hello mate and welcome, alot of the guys on here have had both and can highlight the pros and cons, i love my ph1 but it is currently for sale

There's a marked difference between them, but not a huge one. The ph2 is a more rounded car, but they are still basically the same car. Both have their plus points, you wouldn't be disappointed with one or the other.

Most people who join raise the same questions you do, have a read through!

Alot of people have miss informed views on the handling. They are not an ideal track car, but if your a good driver they make good pace. You do have to take it easy in the wet, but they are not dangerous. Also, it seems to be the ph2 that more people end up spinning.

Hi Aaron

Welcome to the forum mate. I went from owning my phase 1 for 3 years to a phase 2. I felt there was quite a big difference in terms if handling, build quality and general drive (mostly gearbox).

Love the golf mate!

Matt

hi
i fgot rid of my vee not to long ago
i am also into weird and different cars that is why i got a vee then swaped it for one of the most common super cars
the handiling on a vee it good nothing like a 911 turbo but it is still good if you relly push it the back end will comeout and if you go over that limmit it is very hard to hold
i got a mk 1 because i like it more but i wanted the mk 2 255 bhp
my old car is still for sale it may be what you are looking for
http://www.bclcarandcommercials.co.uk/c ... _index.php

it is a very fun car and a good dealer i have nothing to fault with the 911 turbo he sold me top class dealer

i can give anymore info needed
many thanks
paul

Behave! LOL.. 12k is rock bottom for a ph2.

Welcome to v6clio.net Arron ! Lovin the E21!

Some very valid points made by some of the guys here about the v6. Handling in the dry with these cars is great! Never once had an issue with either of my 255's, tonnes of grip! Although in the wet..... now thats a different story.. lol

Lol to be honest I was looking at a series 1 elise which are also pants in the wet so I'm kinda no better off lol (although tHe thought of a k series still send chills down my spine ,) ) what's the tax like on them then n also what sort power gains can you get from a basic tune I.e map, exhaust n filter? Cheers

£20k mental what did u do to it!

what the dealer said FULL custom made LEATHER BUCKET RACING SEATS MADE BY BENTLEY
CARBON FIBRE BONNET/SIDE VENTS
full STAINLESS STEEL RACING EXHAUST
AP RACING BRAKES
ELECTRIC AIR INTAKE
matt BLACK "18" COMPOMOTIVE ALLOY WHEELS WITH TOYO TYRES

never raced a mk2 but i think this would beat it
i have race a bmw x5 - i won
bentley continental gt- won
ferrari f430 - lost
ferrari f360 - not by much but lost

but it will beat any scooby or evo
