Hi KL, :)

Why don't you take it to your local Reno garage (assuming they're actually okay) and get them to stick a CLIP computer on it - it's supposed to be the easiest way to get a diagnosis for this type of issue...??? Worth a try....

(I'm sure when some of the guys read this, they may be able to give you some better advice...) :?

Hope you get it sorted...

Jainy
:D

Jainy, taking it to renault is a last resort as driving it anywhere right now is a huge no no, its not healthy and will do it more harm than anything, just thought the guys on here with a vast knowledge of these issues may help pin point the problem :D

We tried a new coil in each and started it to see if we could find which the faulty one was but no luck
Should i get new plugs from Renault or can anywhere else supply them?

It could be more than one coil has gone.

It could be a plug.

It could be the an injector / injector.

Start up in the dark and see if you can see any sparks which could mean a bad insulation on a coil.

How many miles has the car done ?

Just waded through the manual.

Could be an insulation problem, lets the sprk track across.

Could be a fly wheel sensor.

Could be an injector or once again an insulation problem.

Could be plugs.

Have you got any moisture any where near the ignition.

Are you sure that the coil you used is O.K.

If not far better to go to a Renault Dealer and they should be able to locate very quickly as I feel sure that the fault will have shown up.

Not much else I can say without getting my hands on the car.

Are all connecions O.K.

You could always call out the AA (assuming you belong to them). My wife's Clio had a similar problem. The AA guy connected to the diagnostic port and immediately found out which coil had gone. He fitted a new coil, and as the car was in warranty, so we didn't even have to pay!

It's possible you have more than one coil gone, if you've used one new coil and kept swapping out you would always have one faulty one still in.....

K-L's problem is the throttle body, either some rubbish in it that needs cleaning out or the wiring multi plug is faulty on the top.

WOO HOO :D :D

Ive fixed it, took me most of the day and a few scratches but i located the faulty coil and now im back on the road . . . feeling very pleased with myself

Cheers everyone for all your help too :D
