Megane My Meg 225

Well I recently purchased a low mileage really good condition meg 225 with a lack of power and smoking issue, after some initial investigations this turned out to be Nil compression on cylinder 3 so instead of rebuilding the original engine I bit the bullet and decided to purchase another engine. I managed to get hold of a lower mileage engine from a car that had sustained a some accident damage (rear ender) and had belts done within the last 2 years (so a bonus) was also a little lower mileage than the original.

The 225 is nothing special just a bog standard 225 3 door model but is really clean inside and out, I have so far replaced all coil packs (Genuine Renault), injector's (Genuine Renault one's), New filter's again genuine Renault, fitted a de-cat decided to give the ebay special a go, and am about to get the car mapped once finished.

To do list-
  1. Driver side driveshaft fit,
  2. Passenger side driveshaft fit,
  3. Work out how the ABS sensor's fit (didn't realise the cables had fallen out both sides),
  4. Replace drivers side drop links,
  5. Replace passenger side drop links,
  6. Re-attach swivel hubs both sides (lower section to wishbones 3 bolts each side),
  7. Disc's callipers,
  8. Gearbox oil,
  9. Bleed hydraulic clutch,
  10. Source replacement coil pack plugs for loom as couple damaged,
  11. Start car and hope for best

I assume it's not completely dry James?
No lost some but it's not completely dry, I'll just bleed it like a brake pipe must be a nipple on it somewhere, I find a clear pipe and a jar and do it that way. Just make sure reservoir full

@andybond what forums are good for meg 225

The clutch is supposed to be a bit of a fucker to bleed. You need to pull the pipe out a notch from the slave. The slaves have a habit of failing apparantly when movedo_O

This forum is good for Meg 225 :)

Would abs be affected?? I know it share resevoir It's just the clutch that's been disturbed not the brake system reservoir still has loads of fluid in. I'll try an easy bleed kit tomorrow afternoon and see what happens worst case if I need clip I'll see what the garage down the road have that I could borrow

If it's bled dry , yes. If only a little fluid no .

Did you fill the slave with fluid before re attaching ? That can help purge the air

t end of pipe theres a 11mm n 14mm undo them a tiny bit n pump peddle, then when peddle to floor do them bk up, thats how specky showed me at rst, works a treat saves pulling pipe on n off

Pressure bleed and usual method - furthest from MC to closest.

Cheers Andy, is their a link to website for that clutch bleed? I assume it means at the master cylinder end??

I tried bleeding with a brake self bleed kit and it's done an ok job so far but it still needs bleeding further

Put a hose on the nipple and point it upwards as far as you can go. Then cleck the mc connector back 1 notch, start pumping the pedal. Once you think there's no more air coming out let it sit like that for a while. The oil in the hose will start seeping back because the level is higher than that of the reservoir, repeat asmany times as you like. Tbh, i don't get all the horror stories, i've done it a few times on the Clio now and never had problems woth the cutch

All sorted managed to drive 36miles today and was perfect, defo needs a little more power though.

It's totally std 225 defo on right springs, I had a look at some pics and it's about the same. Thinking cooksports for it.

Could be the pic as I parked it on a slope,
