My Jaytekracing repair

Chris V6

New Member
Just a quick post to say what an excellent Job Jay has done for my Vee, I am a real pain as a customer and must have bothered him no end of times but he was always happy to explain what he was doing, why and how. I annoy myself at times so I can only imagine how he must have felt but was always very accommodating to my requests.

My Vee went in for what was in effect a chip but because of the way I am it had to be repaired. It was not a straight forward job because of were it was and it had to look like it just rolled out the factory anything less than 100% would not be acceptable. The repair is fantastic, my car was very well looked after and I am a very happy customer can’t sing his praise highly enough.

This is not a kiss ass thing just credit were it is due

Many thanks again.

many thanks for the post chris.

thanks again for letting me work on your vee see you soon :approve:

Chris has VOCD! The best sort of customer (in terms of feedback and quality assurance) cos if there is a fault Chris would definately have found it! And I had a real close inspection of his vee and no sign whatsoever a garage door had fallen on it. I was tempted to dig out an electron microscope cos it was that good!

Can I just point out the the damage from the garage door was very minimal (pin dent and 2 scratchs just through the clear coat) one being less than 1/2 a cm and the other even smaller, I could not even get the damage to show on pics but I new it was there.

Thanks Nas I will do QC on yours!!

Hi Chris

If you dont mind me asking what had to be done in terms of work? I take it wasnt a buff and polish kind of job, it had to be resprayed?

I ask because I have a few stains from Bird mess that has contaminated the clear coat...From the research ive done everyone says i will need to go for a machine polishing machine to get rid the "lime contamination" I think im going to buy a machine in the coming months. I just hope its not a respray (bonnet)

cheers :approve:

Just be careful with the machine polisher if you're new to it Wayne as I believe you can do more harm than good if you're new to the process! Although you probably know this already :)

Yes you don't want an Illiad and Lunar combination camouflage job

Helped me to experiment on another car and be shown by someone who has used one before ...

 Thanks mate! I am sure QC wont be needed on Jay's work ;) Did you notice in EVO mag we were in two of the pics! THATS how long we spent talking about VOCD LOL! I am just struggling to find the time to get into Jay's! Chris are you coming to any of the shows? Would be good to meet up with you again :)

I had the roof re-sprayed, which was a screen out, boot off expensive job. I also had the spoiler done and a new top brake light fitted because the old one had a few (very very light, very very small ) scratches on it but due to its covering could not be polished. The car has been machined polished in the passed to remove all the micro scratches and make the paint look like glass with lots of depth to it. I also had the rear alloys done as they were scratch around the nuts were they had been zipped off.

The roof was machined when it first happened but because it had broken the lacquer it would not polish, to give you an idea of how small they were both scratches could be covered with a 5 pence peace at the same time.

Looch most marks in the paint can be corrected, I had a few areas of contamination on mine that have now been removed. Also of contamination can be removed with claying or a HD cleanse, anything worse that has not broken the clear coat can normally be removed by machine polishing providing if there is enough clear coat to cut back. I have only had mine done buy a professional because they will take depth readings of the paint to see how much they have to play with and leave you still with plenty on there. Machine polishing is also a practice makes perfect thing, the theory is easy but reality is very different you can easily go through your lacquer, or make it look much worse buy leaving buffer trails. You need to understand cutting compounds and pads.

I would think your marks will come out no problem and if you want to give it a go yourself fair play I personal preferred to pay someone else as I don’t want the risk.

If you want extra help or someone to do it try looking on www.detailingworld.com lots on there for you !

Nas
