More bhp ECU info wanted

Ok so get your geeky technobabble heads on.

So you have some engine mods done and these may be gaining lots more bhp.

Standard ECU can just about cope with adding +25bhp - True or False?
MoTec or one of those toy Omex units will allow up to +100 bhp - True or False?

errr...Never really considered it in that manner...And i also doubt you'd get 10-13bhp on a remap! I certainly didn't!

Its about the quality of the mapper as much as he ecu

You will maximise the mechanical mods you make through proper mapping - otherwise you waste your money - standard ecus are pants for tuning mainly

Fit a piggyback m600 and have it mapped by Owens for the best job - you will get tractabiity and it has been proven that over 300bhp is possible with cams, some light headwork and a decent exhaust

You will also gain logging, flat shifting, launch control etc etc

Speak to Scott for the complete deal.

Mike, what cams did you fit into yours.

I have Mk2 cams going into mine, but yours I asume was standard Mk1 cams, Im also toying with Motec maybe next years work.

Could always sell me stereo hey Tim

what's involved in the 'light headwork'? Port and polish?

When you put it that way it sounds so tempting haha

The problem is Motec fitted and mapped is many thousands! The single biggest investment if your aiming for ~300BHP :(

Can I really justify spending 25% of the value of the car on a new ECU? [smilie=doubt.gif]

Been mulling that over for a while....

Peter

I agree it is a bit crazy money Peter but I want piece of mind knowing that something will be making the best of the car in its slightly modified state. I've spent a few quid now so a few more won't hurt. Just the doing without the car is what I mull over the most.

M600 is run as a piggyback so potentially you can take it with you to a future car and revert to standard ecu to sell the car.
Makes it a more viable prospect/investment.

must be about 3k installed and mapped - check with Scott

I was quoted ~ £4K.

After the new suspension and belts this year I think that'll slip into next year. :(

Peter :D
