Mk2 Tyres

looch

New Member
I will be having some new shoes on the vee next month, starting with the fronts. Ive been looking at the Toyo T1-R, and have heard good things. The avaliable sizes for the fronts are: 215/40/18 and the OE sizes are 205/40/18 Will these be ok ?

Also, can anyone tell me if the club discount at blackcirlces still apply? I cant find the promo code, the lotus123 one doesnt work.

Any help would be appreciated

Excuse my dumbness but is that the additional tyre pressure? Or the calculation needed to determine your existing speed ?

i heard good things about the old T1S, light and good grip, dry/wet
so, i m using the T1R, but i m not really loving the tires
maybe i got used to the r compounds that i had used previously, the relatively soft sidewall gives the car a slower response
and the tires squeaks too early i think...just my 2 cents

let me know your thoughts if you got them on!

After lots of chat with various experts and owners I have gone for:

Front 215/40/18 89Y FK452
Rear 245/40/18 97Y FK452

Total £374.00

Found another wierd thing.

205 seems to be only winter and on 17"

Falken FK452 - good stuff and are really sticky on track. I think the sidewalls are slightly more forgiving compared to Michelin PS2s, but on 40 profile this isn't a major issue.

However, the FK452 sidewalls are a lot stiffer than the t1-r though which I don't rate as much on track.

Just my two pennies worth, but I think that Falkens are a VERY underrated tyre in public perception and more than hold their own against the Michelin.

Had these Falkens fitted last week and I can now report they seem to be quite fine. Been for a wee blast including a few enhusiastic maneuvers and didn't feel anything unusual going on. Only time will tell how long lasting they are, but for around £100 each they are useful in this cautious financial climate.

Ok, had 2 fronts fitted about a month ago and these are really very good tyres. Had no problems to report in the past few weeks, grip is as good as the Michys and Ill be getting 2 rears put in in the next couple of months.
