MK2 Recall?

I'm only aware of one ... and that was for an ECU refresh. The problem was never well explained. The recall was simply a case of an upgrade followed by a road test. However, your car is new enough that that your ECU would have already been at the newer level.

Thread resurrection..............

Found the following recall on the DVSA database: ACTUAL ENGINE SPEED CAN DIFFER FROM SPEED REQUESTED BY THE DRIVER

Judging by the build date range (01/09/2002 to 22/06/2004) looks like late Phase 1's and a fair number of Phase 2's are affected - 469 cars in total, which include Vees, Laguna and Avantime (basically all Renaults that share the same series engine).

Is the 'ECU refresh' discussed above related to this? The test drive seems to indicate that these two may be linked..........

Interestingly the 'Bonnet Catch Issue' is not listed, so seems like Renault wrote to owners before it got logged as a 'Recall'!

May be a worthy addition to the knowledge base....

I took my driving test in a Mk2 Ph1 clio (1.2 RT....nice). On my first attempt i did the under bonnet checks, read some number plates out. And then promptly got told I could only proceed with the test if I had a letter from a garage saying the bonnet catch recall had been performed....

This is the thing, although well known, this issue is not formally registered as a 'recall', or at least it is not in DVSA's database, which means Renault never really acknowledged that there was a problem: LINK (Jan 1992 to Nov 2015)
