MK2 clutch kit wanted

Adrian

New Member
I'm looking for a clutch kit for a MK2. Renault no longer sells them. Anyone have a new available?

Can't find the correct part number as well in Dialogys or our knowledge base.

Pleased to hear!! :race: :race:

I had the same problems with my 21 Turbo, I solved it with a bespoke solid flywheel to fit a generic 200mm Helix cover and plate. It's a fairly big initial spend, expect £800 in parts at least, but once done you are completely future proof. I had the friction plate relined (literally while I waited) for £70 when I wore it out with big launches, plus I have the pick of cover spring strength and friction materials.

It's an option to think about if you struggle for an OE part going forward. I'm pretty sure TTV have the Vee flywheel patterned already so it'd be an easy win.

TTV have a present flywheel that accepts the Phase one clutch. Helix were going to produce a complete clutch and flywheel but that seems to have petered away, mainly I believe due to personal reasons at Helix. Might just be worth having another go at them?

Luk and Valeo clutches can not be obtained anymore in the Netherlands. Got a custom lining now. Flywheels still can be sourced through Renault.

LUK (Laycock UK) are in Wales Bar near Sheffield, I have spoken with them and they were the sole manufacturer of clutches for both P1 and P2 (B&B, Valeo, Sachs etc were all supplied by them). Next time I am back down I will be seeing them in the New Year to see what can be done as it may well be that all that is needed is a change of springs and material on a standard plate, likewise covers.

Great info Simon. Although I had originally assumed said firm was associated with the ‘adult film’ industry with the nomenclature ‘Lay’ and ‘Cock’.

Laycock as in Laycock garage equipment and also Laycock DeNormanville overdrive units which were popular in the 1950s to 1980s until the advent of the 5 speed boxes on cooking cars lead to their demise
