Mk1 Intake removal

Larco

New Member
Yes you guessed my first coil failure on my Mk1. I haven,t found any information on removiing the intake on a mk1 to access the coil packs as it looks like one of the rear bank is gone. Any advice on this would be great.
Is it possible to test the coils with a multimeter . What usually goes the primary side or the secondary side open circuit or dead short?
Cheers guys . I am no longer a coil failure virgin.

Plug it into an OBD Reader first and find it which one.

The plenum chamber is easy to take off. Take off the all the engine covers. Disconnect the air pipe to the plenum chamber from the air filter. There are some bolts on top to unscrew...maybe 10mm? Then down by the exhaust you will see it is held on by two bolts. Dont undo these as the chamber slides off to the left or right...cant remember. Also, dont forget to undo any connectors which are in the way.
