Hi Folks!
This Y reg mk 1 R5 Automatic has been on Ebay a few times recently:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... ink:top:en
And there is a thread about it over on Malcolm's Clementine's Renault 4 Garage forum as a few members including myself have gone and looked at it when it has been up for sale:
http://www.renault4.co.uk/forum/showthr ... [HASHTAG]#post37087[/HASHTAG]
As you can see its back on Ebay and my question is given the rarity of mk1 R5 Automatics is it worth saving if the rust in the A pillar and elsewhere is as bad as suggested.
I owned three mk1 automatics and currently own a Supercinq automatic. Aside from the 2nd mk1 which had head gasket issues none had gearbox problems. I have been driving automatics since 1987 and have therefore been fortunate in not having a car with an auto gearbox issue. This could be an expensive repair. Off the top of the head I think that Renault used a pre existing automatic gearbox from one of its other models but I cannot remember which one. It is a three speed gearbox with one reverse gear.
Anyway members thoughts on this particular car would be appreciated.
Regards
Harley
