Just a quick note to let you know I've just had an issue with some newly fitted Mintex brake pads on the rear. Basically the friction material came away from the backing plate, which meant that the backing plate managed to fall out the caliper and go round the wheel before being spat out the back of the car. This leave the car with the brake pedal hitting the floor! Luckily it was on a long straight road with very little traffic about.
Looking at the inside pad, the material on that is also starting to come away from the backing plate. I've not had a chance yet to check the other side's rear pads, or my front Mintex pads that were fitted at the same time. Both front and rear pads have been fitted less than 4 weeks.
Anyone running a recent batch of Mintex pads may want to check their pads are ok. Potentially the pad failing like mine could provide a bit of a safety risk
