Megane Megane RS350 Clubsport

Morning folks,

Andy asked me to do a post about my car, so here it is.

I bought the car from K-Tec with 34k on it back in 2017 after a string of more silly cars (Radical SR3, Audi engined Exige, TVR, C63 Edition 507). I've finally learnt that being able to buy a car and being to own a car are two different things. Renault Sport to me is sublime chassis/handling in an affordable package, I can afford to buy the cars and throw whatever cash at them. I currently have this car and a Clio V6 Trophy, a Renault Sport Spider is on the shopping list.

I've done so much to this car in the pursuit of handling and performance that I won't bore you with lots of pics. I'll just list the spec as it is today :) It weighs 1180kg and packs 350hp and now has 38k on it.

When I bought it:

thanks very much for posting. This is one of my favorite cars on the internet ! What a machine!

I have to ask though

Radical SR3, Audi engined Exige, TVR, C63 Edition 507

Radical - any good? Motorbike engine?
s1 exige? k20a? Supercharged?
TVR. Which one?
507 is a great car, I had a modified c63 PFL PPP car.

Thanks for having me Andy and the compliments on the Meg.

Radical was 1.5ltr Hayabusa, road legal too...insane machine, totally pointless on the road and waaaaaay too much for my reflexes and testicles.

S2 Exige S base car with Audi 8P turbo engine, 450hp but so badly converted I had to get rid.

TVR Tamora, loved it, the sound, the smell but the build quality and questionable safety made me move on.

The 507, I LOVED that car. It was on PSS10 dampers, afe filters, FI exhaust with race cats...my god. I tracked it 8 times in 12 months then got scared it would be a classic and decided not to use it.

Hi Andy,

two years ago I was after KW Clubsport for the Meg, but couldn't get it in time for a Ring trip, so I went with the RSC which was supposed to be comparable. I really like the fact they're simple to adjust, one dial. On UK and Swedish roads they're really compliant, the damping has been perfect. I had the car corner weighed at Raeder and they just set the camber at -2.8 up front (I have camber shims on the rear too) and the damping at 6F and 9R (out of 12). On the road I have them at 4F and 4R.

The AD08R are very good but the Cup 2 are just better, in the wet too. The AD08R will let go sooner than the Cups, I remember doing a back to back at Silverstone in the Merc, the AD08R would see the T/C light and ABS light on every corner, the Cups didn't once and you could feel the chassis flex trying to breakaway when you put the power down but the tyres wouldn't allow it.

Looks very nice and you are a lucky boy with some of the prior cars & current :)

Good feedback on them also ;)

Radical with Audi conversion always thought could be interesting

Yeah I do like the new C63S Coupe but most modern cars are just a bit meh :(

Thanks Duncan, I'm now looking into a Maxi Megane I've spotted in Sweden for sale, looks fantastic! I am clearly a Renault fan.

Tell more about the Maxi?

It's probably not the most sensible idea right now financially, but sometimes a car comes up (like the Trophy) and you just take steps towards it...see if it can pan out somehow.

It's a 1996 road car that was converted to an incredible looking standard in 2010 by the current owner. It's done 6 track days in 9 years! Has all manner of trick bits on it, AP Racing brakes, two piece rotors, Intrax dampers, carbon intake, race built engine (240hp), fibreglass doors, bonnet, wings, boot, lexan windows, multipoint cage, 6 speed dog box, it's lovely :yes3.gif:

Hoping I can go see it in a few weeks then sell some organs to buy it?

That looks very special......to add to already special cars in your collection ;)

That's what I thought too, thinking the Meg 350 I have, the Trophy money pit, this and at some point a Spider? Not quite sure where they'll fit though, we're lucky enough to have a big garage and second single garage so might be doable :D

The thing that's attractive with this car is that it's LHD and has road papers so should be able to be used on the road again.
