Megane Megane 225 questions

Just debating whether to buy a Megane 225, I've seen an 05 blue Megane on EBay and at a glance for 2K it doesn't seem too bad. I'd like to have it purely as a toy, a 3rd car, stripped out, 1 bucket seat, track it when I have the free money.

So, if I did buy it I'd go a bit PMT, l'd spend no more than 1K on it for mods. PMT as in are there any homebrew mods that could be done to it geometry setup wise etc

In my head with 1K
Cooksport Springs
Remap
Bucket seat with 4 point harness
Refresh of OE suspension, tired parts?

What else?

Apologies if it's in the wrong thread

Of course mate - I have 2 full printouts and tried different toe and camber settings....

I've also had the dampers set to a whole host of different settings and can give feedback on what I was running....the best set up I found, was the last trackday in Feb that I did, I had the front dampers on 4/30 clicks and the rears on 18/30 clicks.

In terms of ride height, all of the Mk2's I know, follow this formula - I will get the tape measure out tomorrow for you and re-do my measurements to check what SWR Motorsport set the new ride height at...

Measurement taken from ground, through centre of wheel to the bottom of the wheel arch.

None of us have had any scrubbing or any other issues at this ride height, it'll do speedbumps also no issues, be careful with the ambulance/fire engine friendly humps, I go over the middle of them to stop the undertray catching...I have never bottomed out on road or track and tested this height through the most severe compressions Scotland has to offer.....

Great work mate, they look a great solution! - I'll be very interested to see how you get on with those side mounts/subframes if you could take some pics during the process if you don't mind?

I have the ktec bases atm, and then have OMP sidemounts on them, and its a little high if I'm being honest - and also rather weighty. I then have a runner on the drivers which is giving a bit of movement in the seat, so I think it at the very least has to go...

I stuck everything I know about the BC set up and the geo that I've tried into one thread mate - don't know if you've seen it :) - Mk2 Megane BC Coilover Set-up, Settings and Ride Height Information

Aha @papps the very reason I bought these was to do away with using the the K Tec subframe (at £84) and go straight for the side mount bracket only option. I've measured the seat bolt hole locations in the car and they're approx 455mm wide, the seat base width is 420mm. Hopefully the width of these bracket bases with the amount of holes in them should pick up the 4 OE seat bolt positions. With the height of these brackets I can have the seat at any height position, I've read from more than 1 person this last week that using the K Tec frames positions the seat a tad too high. Hopefully with these brackets they'll have the seat sit much lower and fit without too much work. I'll definitely take a few photos.

That write up on the BC coilovers is spot on, it's going to save so much time on the setup. Where did you buy the adjusters for the rear dampers? They look pretty handy.

The adjusters can be had from Jonny @ TrackFocusDirect [email protected] CONTACT - Track Focus Direct

They are £25.99 IIRC and I went for the 25cm size, thats the largest - I'd go for the size down (15 cm) I think, you'll retain a better 'feel' from the adjuster as its shorter in length if that makes sense?

Just email Jonny - he's a very good vendor - he'll sort you out no problem :) - I've sent lots of people his way
