Mega low mileage Ph1 Iliad Collecting Cars

Absolutely stunning car. Wonder what it will go for, no doubt will set a UK auction record for a phase 1!

Interestingly it has a plaque on it which looks like a recreation of a phase 2 plaque, but its definitely not a phase 2 plaque. Not seen one of them before!

I wonder if this was something arranged by the first owner as I recall he was the MD of Renault Leeds?

Interesting indeed. Do you think the original was replaced or that it never had the Phase 1 aluminium plaque (that was riveted rather than glued), but rather this one-off design?

No guide price yet, but one to watch...

I have no idea, so I have tweeted JT to see if he knows.

The Illiad's were right near the end of the run. Perhaps its UK plaque was late/delayed/lost and Renault UK may of stopped making the old style plaques by the time it was chased up and given him a phase 2 style one instead. The original owner may be the best person to answer if JT doesn't know.

Very cool and odd too!

Interesting if this was a bespoke commission. There was a lot of umbrage taken by those who found their ex-RUK Vees to be plaque-less. Looks like the owners could’ve been signposted to the folk who manufactured these after all.

(Granted, it would’ve ballsed-up the register.) :)

Im confused. What UK plaque? this is a phase 1 Didn't they only only have the metal factory plaque on?

The original was probably damaged or lost and it was easier to get a plastic one like this than get a metal plate engraved

They had a metal factory plaque which was removed and replaced with a uk metal plaque... well in most cases!!

It most certainly is George, your Illiad was the previous UK PH1 record!

Im guessing its going to clear 50k.

Yes I just checked to see when and what I paid for that.
July 2018, hammer price £28000, including commission and VAT £32200

Oooh! going to clear £50k, would be nice! there'll be some sleepless nights from the Phase 2 Boys ;)
I don't think so. I still have a nice Ph 2 to drive no matter what it's worth
