Manifold update and Trophy Plenum...

v6Max

New Member
A few pictures of the other tubular manifold and also the Trophy Plenum that's being fitted to my engine. Waiting for some new tubing before the manifolds are connected up to the pipes to the exhaust which should be by next week. It will be equal length all the way to the backbox within 1-2%. Manifolds will come off and be blasted/cleaned up and will turn blue when the engine is dynoed...

Is that inlet manifold is a Mk 1? looks like are the injectors going into it. ? the branch manifold is from the trophy cars with two throtle inlets is that right?

Its just I am trying to put Mk2 heads on mine with a Mk2 manifold and plenum not quite as elaberate as yours unfortunatly. But no one seems to have quality pictures of the Mk2 manifolds because I think the injectors are mounted in a different place.

I like that alot but I know you have heavily modded your car, its gona be mad once complete.

Yes it's a hybrid basically - inlet manifold is Mk1 and as you say the plenum is ex Trophy car.

The injectors do go into the inlet manifold although not the original ones because there's not enough room so 2 x new rails have just been CNCd from a billet of aluminium and they will be tapped to take the new pico injectors.

Thanks Tim! Next update should be completed pipe work for the manifolds, new fuel rail (looking good already) and new flywheel/clutch assembly.

What sort of BHP are you looking at with that lot fitted?

Looks very nice, looking forward to seeing some pic's of that fitted.

Thanks everyone. We're not entirely sure how much power it will make. It's not just the manifolds and plenum that has been changed. We've also change the engine management to KMS, mechanical throttle bodies, Trophy spec inlet and exhaust cams and a custom lightweight flywheel and clutch assembly.

Once the manifolds, fuel rail etc have been fitted the engine will go on a dyno and be mapped and then we'll have definitive power figures at the flywheel.

Then it gets fitted back into the car followed on final on road mapping.

Still waiting - one of the guys involved in doing the works has had a very nast accident at a bike track day which has set things back a bit.

I should have pictures of the new flywheel assembly sometime next week and maybe the new cam covers.

It's trying even my patience...
