make your own quick detailer / quick lube

I've been hunting on the web for cheaper ways to make your own quick detailer/lube for the purposes of clay baring and machine polishing and from the reports I've found on line it looks like you can use a cheap substitute of car shampoo with water.

Here's a little "how to" I've put together and the results speak for themselves I think.

To start with you need an empty spray bottle, some car shampoo and something to mix them up with.

pour the shampoo and the water into a container at a 2 parts water to 1 part shampoo. you can water this down a little later if your shampoo is a stronger concentrate.

Stir the mixture together. Don't shake it or it will froff up which is no use to you.

Once mixed simply pour it into the spray bottle.

Pop the lid on and you're done.

Now as I said this shouldn't substitute QD for it's primary purpose but why waste the real thing when claying when this is just as good and just requires a rinsing off after.

So I had a little play with it tonight and here are some photos of how I got on:

This is before and please note the car has been stood for 7 weeks now and hasn't been waxed for almost a year. (so needs a clean)

After the first spray and quick wipe:

Now after the second spray and wipe:

and the proof of shine test.....

So there you have it, one bottle of QD at a 10th of the cost.

Enjoy

Couple of photos from my 5 hour detail on dads car. Used the Qd I made last night for the clay and the da.

I'll post a before and after thread later though.

Na, I just wanted to play with my new DA but on a car that wasn't mine incase I cocked it up lol.

I only used the soft pad and Super finnish pollish so I could have been more agressive and took more swirls out but I don't think it turned out too bad.
