my vee's revs go off the scale when i hit 3000rpm, the car loses gear and the car judders. im presuming my clutch is going but my mate thinks its a faulty lsd.
didnt think the vee had one. i dunno help would be lovely jubely. :s

I think I am safe in saying a Vee doesn't have an LSD so hopefully you can rule that out.

Clutch sounds very plausible ... Slipping usually occurs in higher gears when accelerating i.e. where the engine torque and gearing is high. Driving the car carefully and sympathetically can mean that you can drive it around a bit until you can organise a repair.

If the engine comes out could you get your cam-belt done at the same time too to dilute the cost ?

yeah i thought it was clutch, my mate is a merc mechanic so what does he bloody know lol.

how much is anew clutch for the beast, is it a big deal or fairly straight forward.

cant believe it just spent 500 quid on breaks now this.

I think Clarkie and Scott have probably posted some prices before and are worth contacting with all the work they do on Vees and their expertise. I will see if there are some old posts in a bit ...

Hopefully some others will post with their experiences and costs on clutch replacements :-)

yeah ive had a little search and found loads of posts but there seems to be so much going on in the clutch department. my mechanical knowledge stops at changing pads and oil changes. prob just put it into a garage and see what they say. thanks anyway k1ano. :approve:

its fixed. was driving perfectly and took it on road trip to portsmouth for the weekend. the brakes are much better with the redstuffs all round, and my friend who has state of the art machine (only 3 in country ) done all the tracking and the cars handling was like a go cart.

but coming back from portsmouth it all went tits up when i tried to overtake some prick in big diesel merc who insisted on playing games with me. as i put the foot down and the revs went through the 5000 range i lost drive. next thing i know im at service station with blue/black smoke pissing out the airscoops. managed to get it home but it cant go over 3000 rpm.

back to square one sitting outside unable to drive anywhere. all i need now is the birds to shit all over it like they hve been the last 3 months.

Pants ...

You may be able to nurse the car around at low revs or by not accelerating hard to keep the engine torque output down - depends on how bad the slippage is. Wouldn't be mutch fun driving a Vee round without being able to use the power though.

I will PM you some info which may be interesting, may not ...

If its the clutch then why is the gear disengaging. My be a gearbox problem!!!

Which place in portsmouth did the tracking? Im down hear in Portsmouth and will have my car hear soon.

sorry blakey, i was in portsmouth cos i took the girlfriend away for a dirty weekend as it was her birthday lol [smilie=icon_eek.gif]

the place that done my tracking was actually in chesham up my neck of the woods. apparently the fella that works at my mates garage has his own website and followers as hes so good at setting cars up. people come from all over the country to have their motors set up hes meant to be a utter nerd, i a nice way though lol. ive got their business card ill fish it out and post up the garages details, might be a bit far to travel but it might be worth it. he was setting up a 600 bhp lexus driftcar when i turned up!
