LOOM - OFF THE ROAD FOR 2 WEEKS SO FAR

Anyone experienced problems getting parts....Two Sundays ago my V6 decided not to start when I was gonna go for my Sunday burn...Thought it might be the battery so, not having any jump leads, I called the AA man.

2hrs after he'd arrived, and after he'd stripped out the rear of the car, performed varous acrobatics and got his gold star contorsionist badge, he declared it was actually the feed from the battery into the solenoid for the starter motor - the harness was faulty and the loom had heat damage from the exhaust/engine.

On the Monday I phoned Renault Tunbridge Wells, who agreed to take the car in on Wednsday. I dropped it off and gave them the AA report.

On Thursday they ordered the part from Dieppe...and were told it would arrive Monday...it eventually got there Thursday and the technicians are still fitting it..."Should" get it back Monday....

Two weekends without....Nightmare!!!!!

Anyone else suffered parts supply problems?

Cheers,

LGN

Had similar probs trying to get hold of a set of brand new front discs - was quoted 2 weeks tops from the factory and 6 weeks later still nothing

So really, there is no standard and we must all rely on the little fella's in Dieppe...

I must add, that for their part, Tunbridge Wells Renault have been extremely good in keeping me updated, seeming rather embarrassed by the delays...

Cheers all,

LGN

Waiting 6 weeks for a rear light loom. Water gets in behind and corrodes the looms. When it finally arrived it turns out they are sided, and of course......... they had ordered the wrong side.

A little polite call to cusomer services helped speed things up. ;)

Mmm, seems ordering parts that fit properly is an issue.. the bit that belatedly arrived was too short, so they've had to have it modified to fit.. otherwise it'll rub against the exhaust and burn through again...hoping to finally get the car back this afternoon....

Still, that's two weeks of petrol saved...

Missing it badly now though...

Exactly what they ended up doing - took the short replacement loom and wacked a bit on the end...

Got car back at 4pm yesterday.

SUPERB!!!!

It looks like new - they must have spent some time doing both inside and out - even blacked up the tyres and gave the wheels a proper clean..it was sparkling!

And, even better, idle is now rock solid @ 500 rpm..just before it died it used to fluctuate.

Wicked and a job well done by Tunbridge Wells Renault...if only the supply of parts had been better....Still, its a specialist car thats no longer in production so gotta cut them some slack!

My mood is lifted for Christmas!!!

Cheers all and best wishes for the festive bit!

Peter got his far quicker and the other one we never got a result, so cannot comment on.

If in August you always have a problem in France.
