Looking for a photo?

Duncan

Well-Known Member
I'm not really sure what I'm offering here, but basically I've been collecting and taking pictures of v6s for the past 10+ years and done so reasonably religiously for the last 5+ years.

I've amassed over 30 gig with the current total sat at 43539 photos. [smilie=icon_eek.gif] :s

I have been trying to index them and store them in a way that I can actually find pictures easily, and I've sort of got to the point where they are all stored in easy to find folder structure.

So if your looking for photos of the car on the Turin Motorshow Stand in 2001, or of the 'Art car' Trophy v6, any specific press event, factory photos, owners meets, or even just old photos of your car before you owned it......well I have collected near as dammit every picture from every corner of the web and got them all in one place.

I have a folder for every individual car; ph1, ph2 and trophy. Some of these folders have just 1 photo, some have hundreds. So if your looking to track the history of your car, or after a high res version of any particular photo, I may well have it and I'm happy to share it with club members if this would be of help to anyone.

Its an open offer, so even if your reading this in 5/10 years time, just drop me a pm or an email to [email protected]

I can vouch for this man. I have been diligently collecting pictures of my car for at least 10 years... and yet Duncan has still been able to furnish me with ones I hadn’t seen before. He’s a complete nut case and a huge asset to this club.

After Duncan has mastered the art of filing, he can have a copy of my hard drives. Will keep him occupied in his old age. ;)

Do you have a backup of this resource Duncan?

Ive seen a lot of people lose so much data over the years due to not having copies. I keep a backup of everything, and everything important is then backed up a third time and the drive unplugged from power/network.

If you want me to keep an offline copy I run with about 24Tb of storage at home so I can drop 30gb in to my pics backup no bother :)

Wise words!!! And thanks for the offer.
Been there Dave, so yes I do. It’s in the cloud, on my laptop and on a second hard drive.
The cloud is the most handy, I can access it via my phone and quickly search file names. Great for nerding out when we get back to going to car meets!

Please can you post pics of the ‘art car’...

...I’ve only seen toy models.

Does it still exist?

See here! Link to trophy register page

Yes, the car still exists! It’s in a private (very large and very special) collection in France. Has never been driven on track, only been moved around so it’s like new still.

The designer Jean-Charles de Castelbajac is artistic director for the united colours of Benetton and apparently inspired by Lego. I think that shows in this design.

Never seen that before! Interesting colour scheme haha! Tragic waste of a car, never being used.

Is that a 21 Turbo Europa cup I spy in a couple of those pics too? Is he looking to adopt a 43yo son perchance? :)

Yep! Keen eyes Dave. The 21 is Chassis 119, its also in perfect condition and never raced. But he does use that from time to time.

The collection is mad, has all sorts of ultra rare stuff from the competition cars to a collection of Paul Smith Twingo Mk1s.

The trophy is sort of is a waste and sort of isn't. It was made as a show car, never did race. I think its great its being preserved exactly as was. If it had competed in that livery it would be slightly different I guess.

I messaged the 21 Turbo equivalent of yourself, apparently a rich guy bought the 21 for the third season of the Europa Cup championship for his son, but they cancelled that third season before it raced.

This car was bought by the currrent owner via a third party from that rich guy. What a find! He had it painted in the Massimo SIgala colours and as you say, it emerges occasionally.

I am a bit green eyed monster if im honest.

Crazy big database! [smilie=icon_eek.gif] [smilie=icon_eek.gif] [smilie=icon_eek.gif] [cmilie=iconcheers.gif] [cmilie=iconcheers.gif] :salut:
I'm only stuck at 9287 pictures for the Dutch Vee's.
