Loltus Exige

I have just been out into artic temperatures and checked every fuse in the service compartment and also the smaller separate fuses in the rear clam. All looked fine. I did the customary spin it 180degrees and reseated.

Car started first time and shut off.

Repeated the start and this time it manifest itself in a new way - the car didnt stop despite me having the key in my hand and not in the ignition!

I put it back in and twisted to the "on" position and then back.

Car carried on.

Gentle force in the barrel and turned the car off.

Looks like I have found the culprit. Now working out what I have to replace.

These cars are far less complex than most once you get your head around a few key areas.........

.........part of the journey of ownership and power to the owners :cool:

Damn I miss the rawness of ownership :(

Also. Careful when washing it. Ive had water build up in the plug holes which caused a misfire and corroded the plugs. Take it a good run after washing it to dry it out properly...which yes I realise will probably necessitate another wash!

The design of the plugs and covers changed between the rover engined elise / exige and the 'yota one to mitigate this ..

Yep same alarm drain issue on vx220's. Any long term storage I have in the past just pulled the feed to battery as only clears the fuel trims real but then got a decent conditioner and saved the pain of getting to tje batteries ;)

Exactly what I have done now! Battery unlugged and boot let open.

Got a conditioner coming and that will be here Friday/Saturday.

My battery conditioner arrived a few hours ago.

Fitted it during lunch and it’s off doings it’s conditioning..

Battery now at 13.9V. Ill keep it on trickle when in the garage.

Car would start this morning. I really need to sort out the ignition barrel. It appears my key isnt long enough to touch the important part ( story of my life, really ) so I had to give it a bit of a shove and I felt it click.

Started then.

For all the skinny lads out there, thats why us fat lads are better. We have more shove.

I had a scabby wing protector on the near side so booked in with my local body shop to change it over.

Very impressed with the guy running it. A very knowledgable and hardworking polish guy. Had some mad stuff there.
