It does look very nice, but as you see from Bruce's vids it is also Brilliant in it's natural enviroment. The Brakes on the Darrian are crazy it can slow down so fast you watch the ends of the shoulder straps lift away from your body. Awesome!!!!!
Been up the back roads in the 7 or 8 he has owned several times.. Each one more mad than the last ............ Well above my budget level . He described his last Engine as `a 40 Grand hand grenade with the pin out'...

In the short term it doesn’t look like I’ll be driving my exige or any other car for that matter.

A concern of mine is flat spotting the tyres. These A052 are not cheap at all so I put peace of mind into sone @fasteddy stands.

The items look well made and are nicely powder coated.

I was a little apprehensive putting a side on at a time with a Jack that’s smooth as silk going up but drops with the gracefulness of a stone dropping in a pond.

Never the less, all 4 are on now.

I think I might just about get enough clearance to get the front ARB done, and clean up the arches / nitrons and take the front clam off to remove the redundant air con rad.

I’ll also take off the headlights and have those re uv lacquered.

The stands are a good bit of kit, but a few months of standing wont flat spot the tyres especially on a light car. My trophy was in the same spot for 3 years and did not cause any flat spots.

The flat spotting is secondary concern.

I want to change the ARB but I can’t get the car up in the air.

These tyre are too expensive to risk tbh. It’s far , far cheaper to do this than leave. They are such a soft compound

This afternoon I have discovered I have a 2-11 style ARB.

5 holes ends and quite thin.

Crucially it also mounts differently to a later car.

Question is , is thicker better in this instance?

Early mount , but can see holes for later mount

ARB depends on what you are trying to trim out. Hard to explain in an easy way. depends on the weight at that end, centre of gravity,spring rates and so on and so forth, usually you would use a stiffer (thicker) bar to blunt the front end a bit if it's too pointy, very different requirement if Front, mid or rear engined. E.G. Rear engined wants really stiff front bar and no rear bar. Front wheel drive car wants mega rear bar.
A Laden Merc Sprinter wants it's rear bar to not feel like driving a Pendulum, but an empty one is a wheelspin machine until you disconnect it.

I have noted that on various trackdays that I have a lot of lean. I am hoping for less roll and if needed a hint of understeer if I am pressing on. At the minute it bites in and if anything the back end will get lose before the front end.

Its causing a fair bit of rub on the liners!

I want to get the front clam off to remove the aircon rad thats in there. The pipes split an age ago and the aircon pump has been disabled for 3 years. Not missed it one bit TBH.

Porgress is slower that I had hoped as it takes me an age to get down and up.

I might need to do some arch liner repairs again!



I have the access panels off , arch liner off and also the front ARB off ( un-needed for the clam off )

I will try to dig out some pics and tech data I had from vx220 days in regards to arb and suspension......I def used those arb blocks but can't remember if I used oem mounting points

What suspension, spring rates are you currently using, what rake etc?

It’s ARB for sure that’s causing the five. I reduced it by going full hard on the settings on the arb. It’s just not quite enough

You could just stiffen the front, there's 2 ways this goes. You start with the tyres and build the rest around them. More grip on tyres allows stiffer springs and gives better agility, downside is it rains and you change tyres, it's too stiff and slides around. It's going to have to be a compromise, unless you want to change springs, dampers , wheels and tyres ( some people do) every time. Stiffer front bar and try would be the place to start. Once you get to max and still rubbing liner it's time for a bigger bar or stiffer front springs and start the bar at the softest setting again. My preferred weapon of choice is the corner weight gauge as it gives insight in to the original balance. Which it may be beneficial to maintain, meaning you need to change all the springs. If it was easy........

Iirc....mine was 650 R and 550 F on nitron's 1 way with slightly different valving with 1 inch ARB

I am almost perfectly 50/50 corner weighted, with ballast.

I agree on the thicker bar - it’s finding one though for mine. I’ll have a hunt.

I am not sure on the stiffer spring approach though , won’t a stiffer spring just give me more push back when I have finished the bend, rather than in bend anti roll?

I have considered going for a blade type ARB.
