It doesnt help that this was an aftermarket supercharger ..

My mates Cerbera now makes factory figures....After a host of upgrades!
 
I have a quote now for the parts for the genuine lotus parts to add in the chargecooler. That will be ordered ASAP and then Ill start on the butchering.

Car felt quite rapid this morning around 0830 when I took youngest to school. Benefit of cold air reducing the IAT I guess.

Cant wait to get the charge cooler on , smaller pulley , possibly bigger injectors and a cheeky reflash ..
 
Colder again this morning. Dropped the eldest at school after a no show from a taxi to take me to the station. Engine got warm , oil got warm and I gave it a poke.

Oh! Oh! thats what a quick lotus feels like. Car squatted , nose rose and supercharger whined.

Cannot wait to get these bits on!

Tbh I am trying to learn exits. The c63 tried to kill me multiple times exiting bends.

Trail brake on the way in until the apex then blend on the power i find is best. on the power too early and the nose will push wide. too much power in the wet and the tail will come round!
 
So get this..

I bought some parts from a seller who was quoted as selling a full pro alloy kit.

Seller didnt know that pro alloy had forgotten to dispatch some bits.

I ended up with 1/2 a package.

I have been speaking to the rather excellent Chris at Pro alloy and after a few confirmation emails sends me out the missing bits.

The kit is phenomenal in quality. Really really impressed.

The only thing stopping me getting it put on now is the pictured part above ..

Heading to RS Tuning for a power run tomorrow to check everything is ok. Will also give me a baseline for pre chargecooler.

I might have accidentally bought a smaller supercharger pulley and belt as well. I hate the internet. It makes me buy stuff.
 
Well the results are in and my arse dyno is pretty accurate

Pretty dissapointing really considering the N/A ones makes 190bhp!

Thats not all the news though. The "map" which I am sure is not modified is not suitable for the car at all. Its RICH low down and LEAN as fook top end.

Scary Mary lean , not just a bit of air sucking through your front teeth scary. We are talking oooooooooffffff lean.

We, and by we I meant Paul needed to work out quite whats going on. It looks a open and shut case if the injectors are maxed out as show below

Now, I have a few choices and those are going to get limited based on the following :

I have a charge cooler to be fitted , just awaiting a part to find
I have a smaller supercharger pulley and belt to fit

This leaves me with two choices really , well 4 but the third is a no no
1) Get Lotus ECU flashed with a 280 map from Lotus and assosiated injectors. Thats around a grand. Its not custom either. Its a generic lotus 280s flash. Hope and pray style.
2) Bang a aftermarket programmable ECU on ( a SCS seeing as though you asked and I havent made my mind up ) with some either C20LET injectors, or better still some Astra VXR ones!
3) Wait to see if EFI Technology based in Italy allow access to reprogram the ecu.
4) Do nothing.


In order of least likely to likely route ...
Option 4 is a no no.
Option 3 is preferable as there is no financial investment beyond the chargecooler , and supercharger extras other than the injectors. However , how long could it be?
Option 1 means I could be in the same boat again. I know for a fact that the 280s didnt have a tubular mani or a TRD airbox like mine.
Option 2 means I am almost financially bankrupt and will get a severe almost long tube manifold grade bollocking off the wife, but its a safer , easier to upgrade engine and components.

Now , anyone got a sofa I can sleep on . I think I am about to be murdered by the wife.

I guess that explains why I could pull away from standard 172s but the megs would leave me on the straights!

Option 5. Take sc kit off and flog, keep some cash back?

Wait until a certain 500bhp 2.0 tfsi DSG (lsd) powered vx220 is finished, have a drive and replicate in yours. Started it today ;) friend doing a lot of the spannering which makes a big difference lol. Or take the 6 speed vag box, clutch and shafts from his current setup and bolt s3 tfsi / golf r engine for easy 400bhp works withthe cc kit you have with mild mod to outlets
 
Yeah the stock 190bhp dpes nothing for me and just focusing your mind young jedi ;)

Get manifold, get cc on and other minors and either accept flash option or bite bullet and got standalone....with tc option poss? Dont chase numbers just decent safe level and rag with confidence
