Liquid

The previous owner "danpd" who pranged the liquid yellow one, put it up for sale asking £15500 in Feb 2009.
Pictures of the damage are not available.

He reported "The car has no CAT D ratings against it, it was repaired by an insurance approved bodyshop, and was fully resprayed at their cost after a bit of wrangling."

There are quite a few insurance approved body shops, doesn't mean the repair was any better quality.

*STAY WELL CLEAR OF THIS ONE*

the paint job was perfect and ud never know it had been damaged.

When i bought my vee i didn't know this forum existed and a motor like this would probably be have sold to me by now. It makes me mad that he know it has accident damage but isn't advertising it!!! Imagine how upset you would be finding out its true history!!!!

Same here - it was only went I bought a steering wheel off Ebay from Colin G that he told me about it and i joined up. You'd be gutted!

I hear what everyone is saying and this particular car has a history more than most and is clearly being hidden or disguised and as a buyer you would be annoyed to discover it after the fact - moreso if you paid a premium for it ...

Consider though that many of us know of elements of history of other cars, and this is probably being collated somewhere (certainly not by me I hasten to add), so to what extent will sellers reveal information which would otherwise impact a buyers decision to purchase at a particular price ...

I think most people are open about the kind of incidents which occur so, reading between the lines, I think the issue with this car is the fact that it has basically had MAJOR work done on it in the region of 10k plus of accident damage and this is being hidden despite the fact we all know about it here. It may be that the car has actually been very well repaired and colour matched and is at a price that is considered fair ?

The question also remains as to whether the car has been classified as a write-off because if it hasn't, then what obligation does a seller have to say anything if the car has been repaired well ? And if there is no obligation then at what value of repairs is there an expectation of openess on the part of the seller ?

I think in all honesty if a Vee has had any strutural damage then this is serious and, whether it's a write-off or not, I would want to know for sure. Panel damage with high quality repairs and ideally replacements, then I am not too bothered - within reason. And I think that is probably where most people would sit. Of course we would all probably like to have the most perfect example of a car but we all realise, in the case of Vees, that they are all likely to end up with some paint work even if it's just a front bumper respray ...

I agree with this---- The price that the car is advertised at for an LY is fairly low & had the damage been just cosmetic requiring new panels then I certainly wouldnt be bothered- however structural damage is different, no matter how well a car has been repaired you will always have that element of doubt around a cars abililty to perform V what it was capable of prior to the incident-
In terms of damage around structural damage an owner has a MORAL obligation to let the buyer know- not a legal one-

History is a great thing. I’m certain there’s a few more since that have undergone major repairs with no insurance involvement. ;-)

Daughter has spent nearly a year and 6 attempts to sort out the mess made by Privileges “approved “ body shop, l&i Eatons to what was not much more than a cosmetic scrape. She has had her car for 2 weeks in that time and we have now checked and it has done 5000 miles since it went in! The catalogue of faults is beyond belief for a so called approved shop. Always insist your car goes to a shop you know and trust or recommended by real people to avoid cowboy scammers like this. :approve:
