Liquid Yellow 310#

AcidV6

A reasonable price & I so nearly bought this today-

However I think looking into the register photos & with the ice install I will let my brain rule the heart & let someone else buy it-

Cheaply priced & I think its in better nick than when DAnPD owned it- as it stands its probably worth 15.5k, however You never know how many parts have been carved up after the stereo-

May be a bargain- May be a sh*tter

Looking through the post history, it's unclear if Paddy (DanP) put it straight using insurance. Plumber21 says it's Hpi clear. LINK

yeah think so i recognise the number plate,

last time it was for sale it was crap pictures taken in a normal car park in a rough looking area

I would take the car at face value-

Its a bit like the other one thats got some history-

TheV6 forum is excellent at tracking past crashes- because mostly owners are honest & ask for advice on repairs etc-

Away from this forum I wonder what the actual statistics are for cars with resprayed new panels-??
30% maybe-

ironically, if its a perfect match & nobody knows then market value is uneffected, however if people are aware it does decrease market value because of the 'percieved' value of a historically damaged car-

the LY is a typical example- if Dan hadnt decared a crash & the paintwork was matched perfect that car would stand 17k today-
as it is now, maybe 14/15k..

i have just spoken to the owner- who was UNAWARE of the damage..

And it would seem you had been unaware either Steve ... though I am sure a recent owner of this car was pointed out the history ...

It doesn't really matter what any of us think really though, there are always factors which will influence buyers in different ways and so a market for all the cars on sale - just at different prices for whatever reason i.e. colour, condition, history, mileage, availability etc.

For me I would want to know of any previous damage and make an informed choice indendantly of whether the damage was light/severe. I wouldn't want it deliberately hidden from me just because it wasn't recorded. Hence I think this forum is very useful and it also reduces the 'plausible deniability' which I am sure some sellers use to get a higher price.

Totally agree.....I too would want to know about a particular car's history, and then decide whether or not to go through with the purchase. However, I would buy on condition, and how well the car has been looked after in the past, with proof of a solid service history not merely stamps in the srvice book.

I agree on wanting to know the damage- & as soon as I found out there was history I was then uninterested in the car, I dont get involved in ex damaged cars, however as ever every sale relies on the owners integrity around passing on historic information to the new owner ( major stuff ) not silly little alloy refurbs and alike-

This forum protects new buyers, however it would seem the current owner wasnt a member & wasnt informed of the past-
MAYBE at the price listed he paid for it fairly cheap because the previous owner whilst not passing the full details on, felt that the car wasnt worth top dollar...

Before parting with any money though I would have traced the history on here & arrived at the bodyshop thread from Dan....

Its a pity there arent any pics of the damage, however for the value of repairs he was referring to it certainly wasnt just a door!

Plausible deniability is, at root, credible (plausible) ability to deny a fact or allegation, or to deny previous knowledge of a fact.

I am not saying the above is the case but I have seen it many times - but you are correct Steve, there is a reasonable level at which information about maintenance and bodywork might become irrelevant or 'accepted' but this is also subjective as, to some people, alloy refurbs would not be acceptable - depending on the quality or colour match etc. (arguably obvious) ... or things like panel repairs to the fibreglass panels (arguably not obvious).

At the end of the day you have to be pragmatic ... and also buyer beware really and have your eyes open, know what you want and what you are looking at and try to be a good judge of character.

Steve, you have always struck me as being an honest, trusted and knowledgeable guy when it comes to Vees and how you select your cars for sale ... that counts for a lot I think with people who buy cars from you and those that may be looking for a Vee ...

Yes Steve, we did :approve:

I seem to remember you being meticulous keeping your Acid Vee nice and clean with your box of 'detailing products' - you weren't the only one either ... I think Dennis also had a box of detaing products - as a passenger !
