Hi guys. Took the Vee out today as was sunny, driving for around 45 mins. Wearing flip flops, got home stepped out the car and nearlly fell arse over t*t!!. On investigation found that the main brake hose was leaking brake fluid. It looks to be just a normal black hose with no numbers or details. Can anyone recommend the original hose at all? Has anybody else come across this problem as it seems there is nothing rubbing or causing it to split?

Cheers Gav

Is that the one that goes from the brake fluid pot to the the clutch master cylinder. ?

Check to see it has not just pulled off a bit and just needs the putting back and the hose clip tightening.

Beware you dont run out of brake fluid !!!!!!

Hi Steve! Tonbridge!!! I'm only in paddock wood. Yes I traced it last night and it is the hose that goes from the bottle to the clutch cylinder. I've actually found the split in the hose this afternoon, just over my left foot!!!lol. I'm reluctant to drive it now coz when I noticed it it straightaway got worse! Has this happened to you at all?

Hi

No but i know the clutch fluid does attack rubber hose even the brake fuild proof type.,
go to the car spares place by the petrol station they should stock clutch/ brake fuild resistance hose, if you get stuck i can pop over, if you need a hand.

Cheer for offer Steve! Picture spot on, only mine had a cable tie around the hose on the bottle which proves that it's been done before! Given the car to my uncle who's sorting it out for me. Tried tracking down original hose but no Renault dealer in the uk had one so he's got one from dieppe factory in France. So just waiting now. [smilie=icon_cry.gif]
