Laguna ABS

Hi Folks,
Newbie from the Outer Hebrides in a bit of a pickle!
I have a '99 Laguna 2.2TD Exec. ( which I love).
The ABS light comes on at approx. 30 MPH with the computer message that it isn't working.
I have taken it to my local (non Renault) garage and my good friend Jim tried everything. The diagnostic computer said front right sensor faulty.( Code 15 wheel target error f/r/h). He changed; the sensor, the ABS ECU ( twice), the bearing, because the back of it is read by the sensor. He swopped the harness connections, they showed the fault to be still in the front right sensor. The read outs on all sensors are within parameters on his 'scope. He even checked another Laguna of the same type for differences. None. Poor chap's fried his brain on this one, I'm an ex spanner man and I can't suss it!
Anybody got any ideas? ANYTHING much appreciated.
Tony, Hebrides.

can of petrol and a match?

could this be a bad earth somewhere?

i have electrical gremlins in my Rover, seems to move around from time to time

Thanks Guys, Bidderman I hear you on the pyrotechnics, it crossed my mind, vis the earths, he checked those. Sonje, not yet, I suspect I'll pay something but he's a reasonable guy.
MarkeyT, there are only 2 wires from the ABS ECU to the front wheels, they were swopped and read out as they should, I dunno, back to the pyro idea I guess!!
Thanks for your replies.
Tony.

a 99 will read off a reluctor ring on the drive shaft, the bearing style ones never came on the scene till mid 2000
