knock from the front end....

hello i recently post to ask for help about knocking from the front of my clio rsi
it happens when accelerating and decelerating and also breaking and there is a knock over bumps but only sometimes but the biggest factor iv noticed is that it is a lot more noticeable in the wet??? iv changed the top mounts on the suspension and the ball joints are less then a year old i checked the track rods when i had the wheels off and there next to no play and the noise its making would indicate ALOT of play in what ever it is? any ideas?
thanks marco

nah i initially thought that but with clutch down free wheeling it knocks as the brake just touches the disc with very little braking force applied

that sounds odd, i would have gone for an engine mount, suspension or possibly the exhaust somewhere along the way, any chance it could be something simple like the batter wobbling free or something like that?

Sounds like something very loose in which case get under the car and take a look!

Sound does travel better in the wet which might explain why it sounds worse.

sounds like the discs are warped to me...

also..?
pads shagged?
lose hub nut?
lose caliper?

maybe even wheel nuts lose?
check em lol

reduced grip when wet allows tyres to slip earlier thus this highlights worn things.

you need to recheck things, also check for play when things are loaded, i.e. on the ground or simulated as on the ground

ok ta disc are new also as are pads i thought the only in wet issue could be traction based its defo there in the dry just doesnt sound anywhere near as bad is there a chance it could be in the gear box or a drive shaft would the sound travel through to the cabin from the box? also how much movement should there be on the engine when the car is pushed in gear?
thanks for the replies need some ideas it doin my head in lol

do the pads fit pretty snuggly in the calliper carrier? ie. if you rotate the wheel back and foward theres no pad slapping around?

no pads are fine and the springs are new however never thought abut that moving about but it will be one of the things i check when i get chance ie it stops pissin down :(
