very disheatend with my v6. ie intermitent fault kangerooing up the road and cuts out .been in 5 renault dealers and they cant even find the fault let alone sort it out .spent £1100 on renault labour charges and parts.and diognostics and all this have made no diffrence.so wat now if renault cant even fix there own cars wat now .burn it. lose it or put it in the breakers yard were the rest of them should be.reno have admitted to me they havent got the tecnical data for the mk 1 or the mrk 2 v6. i was very happy with my vee until now. the dealers are about as useful as a choclate tea pot.. picked my vee up today could not find anything but told me i want a new cam belt. wat at 16000 miles dont think so .and £900 later. but my vee ticks over like a cat purring not like a german tank .timing would make the car run ruff when cold or hot. the fault would happen all the time. but my fault only happens when shes hot . im totaly pis**d at the minite :x

not good my friend... Id love to have a look at this to try and solve it.

You cambelt would need done after 5 yrs.

does it get progressively worse as you drive it? does it cut out at the same revs everytime? what new parts have been fitted?

Also maybe time to involve Renault Customer Service ... nothing more annoying that dealers taking money to speculatively change bits because they haven't really got a clue.

Ultimately tho' your best bet for solving the problem is to get somebody who knows about Vees to look at it! SG Motorsport, Clarkie at Carlton Garage, RenTech.

not good to hear, I agree that on the majority, renault dealers are completely clueless about most of their range, not just the vee

i agree with andy, try and re-claim some of your losses through the big wigs at renault UK, and then one of the specialists who really knows what they are up to, i find it strange how this doesnt show on the diagnostics though!

First thing to do is to document everything that has been done including costs. Add to the document what you feel is an acceptable remediation (i.e. fixed car, costs refunded). Send the document to the Dealer Principal at the/all of dealerships the car has been to. Send a copy to Renault Customer Services and another copy including a covering letter to Trading Standards.

Now the bad bit...I had problems with my car, once it got hot it would progressively stop accelerating first pass 4500 rpm then 3000 etc etc. It spent a long time at various main dealers who could track nothing down on the diagnostics and in the end wanted to begin speculative parts replacement for which there would be no refund if the problem still occured. In the end my car has ended up at a proper Motorsport company where it was immediately diagnosed as an ECU failure in combination with a dirty air flow meter.

Obvious conclusion is that Renault should not be selling product like the v6 via their commodity dealer network - they can sell 1.2 Clios to old dears but they shouldn't be allowed anywhere near this kind of machinery.

The document approach does work - I had an earlier issue with my car along with very poor service - following 3 letters to the Dealer Principal, a letter to Renault Customer Services including a photocopy of the covering letter to Trading Standards I was given a free service, a refund against all previous labour charges related to the work and a nominated contact at the dealership.

Forget main dealers on faults like this. Take your Vee to a specialist who knows about Vee's. They will sort it within the day.I wouldn't worry about it too much.It will be something simple. :)

The engine is a bog standard V6.

Not a high tuned motor so most people have had very little trouble in this area.

Main one being coils and so we have been told due to a bad batch of coils.
