Surely, we could celebrate at all main events the club attends this year, with Kimbolton being the main one.

Absolutely Carl! Let's get 50 Vees to Kimbolton and have a great social event, and likewise have big showings all at our events this year!

Right ... so this is a thread about Kimbo and attendance and logistics for it, and the goal of getting 50 Vees there! Whilst I understand your point about there being no way to reply to a global email Brett, that email was simply to communicate that goal and direct people towards the thread and how to attend - "To celebrate the 10th birthday of the Club, we would like to get 50 Vees on our Club stand at the Kimbolton car show." Let's stick with that topic please, rather than opinions on which event is our preferred one or has the best motorsport heritage!

It's not really about all show more a nice get together with mates.

And herein lies the crux of it for me. Two things have driven the selection of Kimbo for a 10th birthday meet. First off it's an event that's always keenly arranged. Secondly as per Matt's point, this is the club celebrating our birthday and so it's more about it being a great social atmosphere and hopefully family friendly event, rather than the smell of hot rubber and fumes whilst people walk around with their racing boot on. As much as ORS or WSR might have more motorsport locations etc., their focus is different and ultimately we'll stand out no more or less however many Vees we have there! For the eating of birthday cake together, Kimbolton's laid back atmosphere, wider appeal, and probably more interest from the broader crowd make sense to me!

If we can get 50 Vees to ORS and WSR that'd be awesome too, but let's arrange that in those threads not this one!

If that is what the masses believe, then I respect that Andy :approve: Like I said mate, it is just my opinion (I'm not the only one judging by the above). Didn't mean to kick up a fuss or nowt as seeing a huge amount of vee's here is always great and I agree, it is a chilled event.

Static events are not for everyone I know, but this is a big milestone for the club. I really hope everyone who is able to, will be there. Even if you have to grit your teeth a tiny bit.

It's well known that I'm not a fan of track days, but if our club attends one, and I can possibly manage it, I'll grin and bear it with a smile.

I can get some "Don't really wanna be here" stickers made?

James - i would love to support the club but there and back is over 240 miles - i cant afford to be transported those 240 miles tis at least 6 months of miles for me in one day ! Really sorry I know its sad that i wont or i feel is to far as i love driving my vee even though i mainly shake when driving it as im scared of it and OTHER drivers !! I would probably be a nervous sweating wreck when I got there anyway and collapse with a heart attack !! I drove it today for 1st time in two weeks - i love it to bits but i was sweating a lot and i will only park it where no one could possibly damage it so i walked 10 minutes into town rather than parking in town !! God i'm sad I am just to nervous in it - so to drive 240 miles in it scares me :rollseyes: Really sorry James

Lol I may change my mind - I appriciate that you have put a lot of effort in to this and i do feel as though i should just say "balls to it, just go " just to see that many Vee's together would be awesome !! I did see 7 neatly parked at Scotts and i was in awe of the car !! Yours was there too !
