Kimbolton general chat

We will be there! Is it 1 ticket per car or per person?
I'm assuming support staff / vehicles (aka Amanda & the kids) just buy normal tickets?!?

I will see if Amanda can bake a cake ;)

Or if we're struggling on the cake front. How about some of that yummy stick treacle toffee we had at jainys one gathering many moons ago. :)

I'm only posting this here as I cant seem to reply to the global PM that was sent out...

Not that it fusses me in the slightest but I don't really get this if I'm honest. Why would you make the "BIG one" of the year at Kimbolton?? Why not do it somewhere that counts and actually makes abit of a scene? There's nothing stopping it happen at Silverstone Classic if a central location is a must. Chances are the club would get some recognition from it. Failing that, if location isn't too important why not try and push it at an event thats being hosted by 3 members on here, trying to give the Renault scene, especially v6 owner, something a little special each year ie Goodwood??
As much as I love Kimbolton, I can't see what the big fuss with it is for being the clubs main event of 2015. The club, members and cars are much better than that in my opinion. That is unless you like being parked 6ft from the ass end of 20 Triumph Spitfires and enjoy a medievil re-enactment at lunch time.
All in my opinion of course and if I'm wrong I'll happily stand in the dunce corner.

Look I'm not trying to put the dampners on Kimbo. Its a great day and a bit of a tradition for V6.net. I wouldnt have took any part in organising things for it last couple of years if I didn't think it was worth the trip. Just seems a waste to celebrate 10 years of this great club and 15 years of the even greater car at a country fair.

I disagree sorry. Even got the family wanting to come to Kimbolton to celebrate. It's only an hour for me which I admit is a key factor. Lots to do and always been a great show to attend. Plus it's james call where we should celebrate the club event. It's not really about all show more a nice get together with mates.

Maybe you should setup a poll like every other time someones suggested something to do with the yearly events Matt? Or is the 10th anniversary some how different and not up for discussion?
Like I say, I am by no means putting Kimbo down as I also love it. But just because its not the "big one" doesn't mean nobody will turn up. Sorry but what a waste.

Don't want to add fuel to the fire but having the big 50 at somewhere like Goodwood might be a better idea.

Kimbolton is great but somehow has lost that magic feeling, it has no motor sport heritage and it does feel more like a country fair/show for me now.

All in my own personal opinion.

I have not been to Kimbolton, and am going to do my best to attend.

I would say that the Silverstone Classic is a very prestigious motorsport event.

I'm very impressed that the organisers of the Silverstone Classic feel that the V6 is such an important car and that the club has a stand at the event. The club stand had a great location last year.

Has anyone told the Silverstone organisers about the Anniversary? Who knows we could get a parade lap of the track.

Surely, we could celebrate at all main events the club attends this year, with Kimbolton being the main one.

Does seem odd given the recent and obvious drive to improve and promote the club via the more 'special' car events..

an opinion and only really based on what I've read on the club over the years of ownership and sadly not through attending that many events! Apologies!

Right ... so this is a thread about Kimbo and attendance and logistics for it, and the goal of getting 50 Vees there! Whilst I understand your point about there being no way to reply to a global email Brett, that email was simply to communicate that goal and direct people towards the thread and how to attend - "To celebrate the 10th birthday of the Club, we would like to get 50 Vees on our Club stand at the Kimbolton car show." Let's stick with that topic please, rather than opinions on which event is our preferred one or has the best motorsport heritage!

And herein lies the crux of it for me. Two things have driven the selection of Kimbo for a 10th birthday meet. First off it's an event that's always keenly arranged. Secondly as per Matt's point, this is the club celebrating our birthday and so it's more about it being a great social atmosphere and hopefully family friendly event, rather than the smell of hot rubber and fumes whilst people walk around with their racing boot on. As much as ORS or WSR might have more motorsport locations etc., their focus is different and ultimately we'll stand out no more or less however many Vees we have there! For the eating of birthday cake together, Kimbolton's laid back atmosphere, wider appeal, and probably more interest from the broader crowd make sense to me!

If we can get 50 Vees to ORS and WSR that'd be awesome too, but let's arrange that in those threads not this one!
