kangoo 1.9 diesel 2001 immobiliser key fault

hi
first post so here goes, i have a kangoo 1.9d 2001 with rf type plip key, the van is a non start you turn ignition key and immobiliser light flash's repeatedly, i have replaced the relay box under the bonnet because of the usual fault, but unfortunatley the key's circuit board is stuffed due to water ingress. If i was to get a key and module from another van would it still need reprograming or is it coded to the ecu aswell?
regards jon
p.s. i do have the emergengy code

a bit of a grey area. Sometimes the key and BIC is all that needs to be changed and it will work, other times the ecu needs done as well, if you can get all 3.

Like i said sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't.

Kangoos I don't like to much cos I always seem to be doing engines on them!

cheers for that, just to be sure the module is just to the right of the instrument cluster behind the dash ye.
cheers jon
