Jaytekracing - My Review.....

...........as per Jay's request via PM on this forum. He has asked me to be perfectly honest, and so I will:

Well, firstly I spoke to Jay over the chat room on here and via PM in some depth as to my requirements, he seemed very keen to do the job, and fully understood what I required (full front end respray to remove stone chips and a couple of very minor dents, and a wheel refurb). I had read some of the other forum users reviews and decided that although Jay's place of work is nearly 100 miles from me, that it would be well worth the journey.

After a few more conversation with him, I decided to call in on him one day (as I was working in the area) at his place of work and finalise what I wanted doing and a price. All this was agreed and I left feeling very confident that my baby Vee was going to be in very good hands :approve: He told me in his own words, not to worry 'that I would be 100% satisfied with my car when I picked it up' and that there would be 'nothing I would be able to fault it on'. This was very pleasing to hear, as I would never ever consider leaving my car with anyone other than a complete proffesional, where I thought it would be in good hands.

After a couple more phone calls, we agreed a drop off date, I dropped the car off and Jay ran me back to my place of work, about a 30 mile round trip for him, so I was very pleased at this, saved me getting trains etc etc. He reckoned the work would be completed within a week, and although I was happy with this, I didn't want to push him on time scales, as I wanted my car to be perfect, and therfore said 'no rush, get it ready as and when, but i'd like it back for the show season'.

A week passed, and a couple more phone calls (and a few progress photos sent to me), and the car was not ready, although Jay had kept me informed as to what stage the car was at, I never questioned this slip in time scale, because I just wanted a perfect job, and my Vee is my second car so i'm not relient on it for work etc.

Eventually it was near completion, and I did look at some completed work photos and thought to myself at the time that the wheel I had asked Jay to refurb didn't look quite right, but I thought to myself maybe it was just the lighting or something - pictures in my opinion don't always show a true likeness.

Anyway, after a second week had passed, he told me the car was ready for collection, so I organised a lift off a friend from mine to Jays, the friend dropped me off and Jay and I had the normal exchange of pleasantries. I had a good look around the front of the car, and although the car was parked outside and it was raining, as far as I could see he had done an excellent job, nothing to fault here what so ever, but also what I had expected after he told me how meticulous he was in his work.

I then moved around the car to look at the wheel, the wheel that I thought looked odd in the photo, and yes, unfortunately my fears were correct, the colour match was not correct, I pointed this out to Jay, and he seemed to be a little pissed off to say the least, not with me (well as far as I know not with me)for not being happy with the finish of the wheel, but with himself. Anyway, after some chat, he decided, not me, to replace the wheel with a brand new one from Renault, I asked him 'could he not just refurb the original again', but he said no, he'd be happier replacing it with a brand new wheel.

At this point I took the car, as I had no other means of getting home, and TBH I was slightly annoyed that the car wasn't as it was supposed to be especially as Jay had had it for 2 weeks, not the originaly quoted 1 week, and the fact that I was expecting it to be spot on with nothing to fault.

But in all fairness, Jay had said that he would bring the new wheel to me, at home, and get the tyres swopped over etc etc, in fact he did everything he possibly could to rectify the problem - so 10 out of 10 to him for this.

Eventually (about another 2 weeks) he had the new wheel in, and to help him out I took the old wheel off of my car and took it to him (as I was working in his area again for a few days and new it would save him a load of fucking about!). I dropped the wheel off in the morning, and managed to collect it the same afternoon. ......And as Jay had promised, one brand new wheel with my old tyre fitted. More importatly, finally one happy Stevev6.

So to summeries in short:

1/ Did Jay's work live upto mine and his expectations - eventually yes!

2/ Would I recommend Jay to others - yes, but be sure to tie down time scales, if your vee is your only form of transport / your daily drive and you need it back by a certain time.

3/ (the burning question) Would I use Jaytekracing again - yes, I wouldn't recommend him to others if I wasn't prepared to use his services again myself.

So thats my review / experience of Jaytekracing. I have been 100% honest with my opinions, Jay may have a different spin on things, as to the series of events, and if he has I invite him to comment himself on my thread.

I rated him on the forum 'dealer list' as 4 out of 5, purely for the fact that he told me I wouldn't find fault when I came to collect my car, and obviously I did!

Sorry for the essay. I hope those of you that plan to use Jaytekracing find this review useful.

Kind regards, Steve.

He sounds about a billion times better and more efficient than my sprayer lol. Fair play to Jay for sorting the wheel out too. Sounds very genuine to me.

Jay ... can you PM when you'd like to post your response and I'll unlock the thread. The other debate was getting us no where useful.
