Megane Jatkin's LY R26

John Atkin

New Member
This is my 2008 Liquid Yellow Megane R26 - Number 3556.

I've wanted a LY R26 or R27 since way back when I had a nearly new 2007 197 in Albi Blue - At the time I couldnt afford the £2k premium for a Yellow example.
Recently the need has arisen for a quick track toy, and having a fortnight off work over xmas with too much time spare - I took this as an oppertunity to settle one of my unicorn fantasies and found this immaculate example of an R26!
Apologies for the quick and dirty photos, I promise to take some much better ones once the weather brightens up a bit

Currently completely standard - I'm being very anal with it and want it to be completely perfect - So far my list of things to do concludes of:
Replace a very quietly clicking driveshaft
Investigate what I assume to be clutch coming towards end of its life (weak clamping force) - probably replace with R26R SMF+Clutch kit

Now for the boring part....

Mods bought and waiting to fit:
Milltek Cat back
Decat pipe
60mm FMIC
KTR Induction Kit
Ferodo DS1.11 Pads
KTR Braided Brake Lines
PFC RH665 Brake Fluid

Mods planned in the near future:
Hard Boost pipe kit
Samco Inlet hose
630cc Injectors & Remap
R26R Rear Spoiler
Replace Bushes, Droplinks etc
Another set of alloys fitted with slicks

Tidy car. LY has to be one of the best colours Renault have every produced. Looking forward to updates

Fitted the Ferodo DS1.11 and flushed/changed brake fluid to PFC RH665. Also chucked the KTR braided hose kit on, which helpfully came with pre-squashed washers... chinese parts at UK prices :search.gif:

After bedding in you can feel the difference straight away, very impressed!
Can't wait to get it on Track now, slightly worried about the ceramic ruining the wheels.

KTR Induction kit also fitted. Instructions slightly confusing, very expensive heat shield IMO!

Finally got some spare time to do some bits to the car in preparation for an upcoming track day on the 13th March (Briggs/Sheryl, are you going? Full day iirc)

Changed o/s driveshaft but it's still clicking on full lock - I have no idea, on the plus side my swivels are nice and free!

Fitted the Milltek cat back, makes a nice restrained noise - not too shouty.

I wanted to have everything fitted in preparation for its first track day but time.is somewhat of a premium at the moment :(

On the plus side there is another couple Of local track days on the 27th March and 10th April - if I can get the car down to RStuning for those it would be a good comparison against the stock map on the same track.

Croft on the 13th ? I may pop down for the day. I probably wont have anything ready for then however i fancy good friday full day at croft. Struggling to get anything ready not enough hours in the day !

Teesside on 13th, I may get the megane on at Croft on good Friday too!

Stunning late R26 purchase, and those DS1.11s are lethal on first use! Recommended by our very own papps, you can't go far wrong with them on track. Look forward to more updates :)
