Janspeed Spike Exhaust - New One

TerribleExpert

New Member
Hello!

I am in the process of buying a Vee Phase 2 and I've read a bit about the 'Spike Janspeed' exhaust. I have emailed Janspeed and they said they can make one for £819+vat.

Anyone any thoughts on if this is worth it?

Former Clio V6 255 owner Stuart Pike (automotive engineering background) financed the development of bespoke V6 255 backbox prototypes, along with the expertise and tooling of Janspeed, until a satisfactory design (in 304 Stainless) was achieved. The background to this was the original factory item was considered muted (whereas the offerings of both QuickSilver and Orbisoud allegedly created much cabin boom).

Hence the finished design became known as a Spike Janspeed. He’s naturally quite proud of the achievement and (now retired) has asked to share his number with anybody who wanted to learn more about the development process: 07889 153352

One point , I have the normal road Orbisoud fitted (there is a louder race version that is not homologated for road use) and it does not boom as the sound only increases when you press the throttle so it is very good.
Over the past few years people have tried to buy this but were told by Orbisoud that only the race version is available but I just checked their website and they still list both with a price of 1100 so no idea if it is now available or not.

Its the best closest to OEM aftermarket exhaust for the V6 IMO. Looks standard with the Spike. Sounds fantastic.

I'd suggest driving with the OEM exhaust first thought to see if you want to spend the extra, its a nice soundtrack, albeit a little muted.

Wow what a story! Love this!

My thoughts on this subject - I have both.

The Orbisoud road version is fantastic if you are out for a 'hoon' (aka spirited drive on a sunny Sunday), but less so on motorways. It may violate noise limits on track.

Spike's exhaust is an all rounder; ideal for touring and/or long trips, especially those that include motorways or roads where your throttle input is more or less constant for large parts of the journey.

Just to add they are not actually back in production, they made a batch and kept a few on the shelf.

Supply is limited.

I gleaned from another discussion that Janspeed may need to focus on supplying private customers’ needs going forwards.

Corporate deals to supply Jaguar Land Rover SVR models (or such) will be obsolete as EV production becomes standardised.

It appears that they are being far more helpful than of old…
