Summeh,
The age-old problem is that the drivetrain isn't up to more than 250bhp...
Most 300+BHP projects have fallen by the wayside.
Click on the 'Improvements' section and you should see a tab for 'Special project cars' to read more.
As has been stated before the weak link is the gearbox, standard engines / set ups break them so 50+ more horsepower ain't gonna help.
You can always try to get a sadev sequential box if you got serious money to spend.
I think there are a few members on here that would like to find an alternate gearbox , and personally I think it would not take much to source one with a bell housing adapter..
Yes the typical VAG pattern seem very easy to combine to the Reno pattern. Much better than the the volvo m56 gearbox i originaly looked in to. Only problem you will have using a transverse box is the drivers side driveshaft that still need to be held by the engine still. You will also need to locate the crank positioning sensor on the VAG bellhousing.
Someone on here is a professional gearbox 'design review'er or 'computer stress tester' (or something like that) and was going to have a look at the box. Run some programmes and decide if it could be uprated.
Not sure if that happened yet though....
I heard that the old RS Megane box fits the L7X but how true this is i don't know. Apparently they are pretty sturdy with the bonus of having an LSD in the F1.
The Megane II has a ND0. I'm not sure about the Megane III but its either ND0 as well or less likely the TL4 like in the Clio III. The turbo Clios have a dual clutch box which actually is quite far from auto.
Brett might be right though: The Laguna/Espace platform uses the PK6 box on the turboed F4Rs whereas the Megane uses the ND0 on the same engine. So if both boxes fit the F4R they might just as well bolt on the L7X
Chris from efi-parts does a 02m conversion on the f4r, requires custom bellhousing adapter, custom driveshafts (reno outers welded to vag inners), custom mounts... so if the L7X has the same bolt pattern as the F4R??????? then this could be a possible conversion also...
