is this car known?

Thanks, was thinking of getting back on the V6 ladder, but only as a second car, the reason i sold my Mk2 V6 that the kids were fed up taking it inturns under the bonnet, hence my sale and purchase of a Megane R26.

If i do opt for a Mk1 it needs to be a good car at a very attractive price. ;) OR option B sell the Megane and combine the monies , but there is nothing out that i think i wont get bored of after a few months?

Well if I hadn't been to a couple of club meetings, mine would be similar. Might be a case of it's just sat doing nothing.

"How many miles have you done in the past two years?" would be one of the questions for the buyer to ask.

Not that it makes any difference after 9 years I guess - It is what it is after all this time and it looks and reads to be nice, but....here's a little story for you.

I used to be (and still am when the bank manager tells me I have to be) a Motoring Journo.

I remember collecting a Phase1 (who knows, could even have been this one!) from QEK at Upper Heyford Aerodrome back in the day.

This is the secure site where almost all the manufacturer's keep all of their UK press fleets. They go out for a week and come back straight into the manufacturer's on-site workshops for prep before going out again.

My point is, when I was there, somebody did what I was told later they should never have done. They took me from the reception area, "airside" and up the runway to the Hangar where the V6's and some other interesting Renaultsport stuff was kept (Mint 5 Turbo2 in full Rally colours anyone???).

There were 6 or 7 V6s as I remember, all silver. "Which one's mine" I asked? "Oh that's easy" came the reply. "It's the one that's not damaged".

He wasn't joking. Every single car had varying degrees of damage and dents etc. One I recall really didn't look happy at the back-end at all.

The chap said it was rare for them to come back undamaged, as obviously they were driven by heavy footed motor-noters for a week who had never driven them before. They arrived with a full tank of petrol and left 7 days later with an empty tank and a full ashtray, and what ever marks had been picked up in between.

On the up side, the good thing is that any repairs would have been carried out by Renault UK themselves and all of the cars had to be in just-off-the-production-line condition every time they went out to someone new.

They will also have been meticulously maintained, if not driven with quite the same care for the first year!

Well despite the conflicting reports i have gone and purchased X932 OFC!!!!!!!!

I was satisfied that some of the concerns raised on the site were unfounded, as the previous owner had owned the car for over 4 yrs. He is also a genuine Renault enthusiast, recently owning a T2. The car is not perfect and nobody can be sure of the history of a 10 yr old car , unless of course you have owned it from new

It appears a good car. Recent full service, including plugs, gearbox oil, brake fluid, all carried out by Renault, Has v.good mich tyres, good brakes.Has all Renault service stamps, paper work for minor parts repair, MOT'S carried out by Renault etc, which all cross check with the current mileage. Things to sort out at the moment is the air con and some bumper scuffs. It just drove faultless from Edinburgh to Cardiff , over 420 miles , some of it in v.heavy down pours, but all good.
