Investment cars article on PH

there's nothing like a thread about cars being investments to get the PHers furiously typing ;) it's 8 pages long in less than a day! Pleased they used a V6 to illustrate the topic though. Not that rising prices interest me as I still don't ever plan on selling. :)

Agreed. In my ideal world V6 prices would come back down again so I could buy another one. His and hers type thing. (Hopefully tire prices drop at the same time...)
Genuinely have no interest in using a V6 as an investment

I'd love to be able to pick up a rough ph1 for 6-7k again.

Its great that they are now recognised for what they are worth, but the pleasure of owning them is not related to value.

I agree wholeheartedly with Duncan - the initial depreciation curve was shameful. Glad that Vees are receiving some deserved recognition.

Isn't this always the way though, with the exception of stuff like the Cayman GT4 etc?

Look at Turbo 2's and 5GTT's. Same pattern.

Personally, I'm not sure that 'hand-built' one-off specials deserve to depreciate beyond the 50% point...

...unless they're particularly crap!

Seriously though, didn't happens to R26-R - which is a lot less special than the Vee IMO.

5GTT's are mainstream, so didn't really qualify for this ethos.

THIS!
The other weekend I went on a 5 hour round trip to pick up a mountain bike. Chucked it in the 'boot' and took the back roads home.
In a few weeks I'll be putting a roof box on and driving to le mans and when I get back from that I have another mini road trip round Yorkshire, then Dorset.

Now think of the same car locked in a humidity controlled garage for 2 years  Pointless

Rarity helped the R26-R from depreciating too far. Only 80 odd in UK iirc.

Have always been disappointed the 1m coupe never depreciated into the mid 20k bracket. One of the very few cars I would swap the Vee for.
