Insurance renewal

Well it's that time of year again..Insurance and we can't drive our lovely vees without it... Anyway what I like to know is..A company that will insure all my mods and have an agreed valuation...The value of our cars have increased dramatically over the last few years...so how much should I value mine at.?? I valued it at £20k last season but this year I'm not really sure.?? Any help from you guys would be great :salut:

Best bet is to 'ping' a PM to Duncan for a valuation.
Modifications must muddy the water for Mr Powell - but he's got a good nose for these things.

Duncan has £25k - £30k for a standard car as good as yours Lee. Whilst most mods on most cars devalue them, I would think that the Trophy wheels and other bits you have on your car would add quite a value to it, and if it were mine, I'd be putting £30k on it.

Remember, it's how much you'd get if the car was written off or stolen. Try finding a standard car in the same condition, and then buy all the bits you have on your car, all for £30k. I don't think it would be easy.

Funnily enough I was going to ask the exact same thing.

I have what seam to be great insurance company--- A-Plan (Thatcham)

Covers all mods and agreed value, which I'm sorting out now, at a guess 25k-30k, will drop Duncan a line about this.

My premium went up very little this year considering I have a new set of 3 points, the increase in value and additional modifications declared.

I believe they do classics/ race cars/ track cars and modified cars so they are at home with the clio. :approve:

I'm with Hagerty, Lee. Most of my 'fleet' are standard, but they were happy to insure my Lotus Elan with Cosworth BDA engine (at 70% increase in power over standard) and a super-low miles Jag valued at 5 times a normal-miles one. One policy for quite a few classics, including the Vees, and nice and easy to work with.

They are superb on claims as well, and show that they really understand rare / classic and modern classic cars. A mate had a fire in his concours Escort Twincam, and most companies would have written it of. It has a lot of parts in the engine bay that you can only buy secondhand, and then for a daft price, like an aircleaner setup for £2000. They told him to get an estimate on getting the bodywork sorted, and to itemize the bits that were damaged that couldn't be bought new, giving the price he expected to pay on ebay.

Two weeks later a cheque for £25k, the full amount of the estimate, arrived with a little note wishing him luck with the restoration! Not many insurance companies would trust the car owners so much or bother going to the trouble of accommodating such a claim.

Lee, if it's worth anything I'm also with Hagerty and been very happy with their sevice over the years. I've never had to make a claim but happy to read what Mark posted as a good insurance policy is realy only worth it's money when you make a claim!! Many insurers are great at taking your money but don't like paying it out.

As above really i too am with hagerty and even the first phone call to them is a pleasure as they all seem like total car nuts worth a call !!!

Can vouch for Hagerty - been with them for over 11 years now. Very easy to deal with - all cars on one policy, email is used for most comms. Ideal for getting things organised outside working hours.
