Induction question

v6Max

New Member
Does anybody know what diameter the induction hose is from airbox to throttle body?

Is it the same diameter as the induction hose from side nacelle to airbox and if so does anyone know what that diameter is?

Finally does anyone know what the expected flow rate is (CFM)?

All questions relate to a Mk 1 v6 by the way.

Many thanks, Max

I have all my old induction system in the garage, I'll have a look this evening if no one beats me to it. Side vent to Box is bigger than box to TB.
CFM is a question for Mike
What are you planning Max or is it simply that you can't get that cover off!!!

100mm pipe from vent to box. Entry to the box is oval at 100 X 90mm.
Exit from the box is 90mm circular down to..........I'm not sure , I couldn't get to the old Mk1 TB without dismantling the garage. It's about 58mm internal TB I believe and Mk2 is about 76mm.
I have the original Mk1 ducting between box and TB, although I now have Mk2 TB. I guess it's a 90mm pipe that is clamped down. Fits perfectly over Mk2 TB.

Thanks Tim/Mike.

Just working on an alternative induction system following the discovery that the last people to work on my car have wrecked the Piper Evolution system.

It's "encouraged" me to finally try and cost out an idea I've been toying with for some time.

If it all works out I'll post pictures...

Well the kit is made out of not particularly thick aluminium. When you combine that with someone who tightens pipe-clips with what I can only assume was a ship building spanner you end up with a crushed outlet on the induction kit.

Now it's impossible to tighten up the from kit to TB hose properly so it ends up falling off during normal driving and then sucking in lots of warm and dirty air. Even if you could attach it reliably at present the crushing would obstruct the air flow to a certain extent so it's definitely something I need to sort out.

How about using a metal collet over the damaged end to tighten up on? Or contact Pipercross and see if they can help?

Piper is made from spit and tissue paper, mine did the same and I was using a standard screwdriver!!!!!!! - get a cda - the quality difference is unbelievable
