immobiliser problem

hi peeps, would like to pick your brains regarding an immobiliser fault on a clio 16v 'n' reg :rules: (not a 21t sorry)
been offered the car for a good price so will probably get it for parts for my wifes 'j' plate valver anyway but its immobalised(believe its the original reno one) just wondered if anyone here knew anything about them,if not then no worries just thought id ask.
if anyone knows how to bypass it etc that would be great, someone said if i stick a phase 1 ecu on it gets rid of it? could pinch the one off my wifes car to get it moved for now if its true???
spankyou very much

or....if anyone here works for reno or knows anyone would you be able to get me the 4 digit plip code if i give you the code inside the key??? after some checking on the internet it may be that the 4 digit code needs re-entering?

Very common on this age of car.

Basically the key is coded to the receiver, which is coded to the ECU. For it to work, all 3 need to be operational. The keyfobs have a habit of spazzing out (thought to be to do with static I believe) and the receivers sometimes get wet with water leaking through the sunroof.
If the key wont zap then the car wont start. Its a problem for Clio's, scenics, meganes....everything with that type of key basically.
If you change the Key, receiver and ecu for 3 working matched ones it'll work, otherwise it wont.

Sure its not just the key needing a new battery?

ty dave,if i get the car i will have a play round with it and if i get no joy then it will be taken apart :shoot:

Dave.......the key shouldnt need a battery for the immobiliser transponder to work - thats only for the remote door unlocking facility.
