Not sure how realistic the pricing of this particular one is, but prices are definitely heading in the right direction.....
Knew it would eventually happen, but didn't think it would be so soon! :approve:
As regards the advert, I don't agree with the following comment though:
"Grab a higher mileage one if you like but be prepared to shell out thousands on sorting the car out."
In a few years time it will matter not that Vees have a few miles on them as long as they are maintained and looked after.....
I think the UK pricing policy is all wrong. We should price them just a little higher than on the continent so RHD carry a premium and then people will look to euromarket and think I would rather pay the extra grand or two for RHD UK car rather than bring one over. Or even price them at European prices so when people do look to Europe they realise they are priced properly and no bargains/short changing the seller to be done. Easy fix really.
I think he will struggle to get the asking price for this one, but why not have a go, I thought mine was top money ,and although it sold to the first viewer I've got 3 peoples number who have asked to be on the reserve list in case the sale falls through,
so there is a massive interest in these special cars , and even though mines soon to go I know the prices will surely rise, I just wish I had another 5 in my garage,

Mint ones will be hard to find and how many are on the market and available to buy over the course of a year???? I suspect we will end up with demand greater than supply.

IMO what you say is achievable only if UK sellers are willing to sit back and wait until the right buyer comes along. If RHD Vees are priced more than equivalent LHD ones then there may not be an appetite for them in the continent. What I have noticed is that, so far, prospective Vee buyers from the UK (not sure about the other countries that drive on the left hand side) are not the type who will seek out a LHD car even if it is the right one and/or one can be sourced for less. However, those in the continent, the French in particular, will go for a RHD Vee if one can be acquired cheaper, even if it is damage repaired. As such, I believe raising the advertised price for UK Vees will only work if sellers are willing to hang on and wait, and IMO this will only happen when true enthusiasts for the marque and collectors get their hands on at least the good ones.
I would have no qualms buying a LHD Vee if it is the right one. However, right now there is no need to since a) the RHD Vees are cheaper than LHD ones, and 2) there are mint RHD cars in great condition. So you are right about the pricing policy, but sellers will need to be quite strict about how much they ask for their cars, and stick to it.
This works well in Porsche circles, where LHD RS' (or any limited edition/motorsport models and early 911's) are more in demand since UK buyers know they can be sold back to Germany, usually for more than they bought them for. As an example, my 964RS went back to Germany. RHD UK models do sell for a premium but that is because the number officially imported to the UK are so small - in the teens or twenties.
