Yeah... The car is back... :race: What a crazy day Friday was. It all started 6
0 AM at Maidstone services where I met Nas and Kiano for the start of the epic journey. We then got to the Euro Tunnel to meet up with the rest of the group. It was almost like a first meet for me as I had only met a few of you before. We then set off into the tunnel but not all parked together unfortunately. After a bit of banter in the carriages during a very short crossing, we set off in our quest to reach Le Mans. It was then that the whole "Road Trip" started as we sped away from tolls being encouraged by the Gendarmes, [smilie=boohoo.gif] lapping up the kilometres while enjoying the scenery, first class motorway food and the joyful sound of 9 Vees all singing differently. The locals all seemed pretty happy to see us including the three scooters who came together while watching us!!!!
Once we arrived at the garage, which was smallish we were greeted by a friendly almost family like business. We were then taken into the workshop to be shown an A110 Alpine minus a rear axle but otherwise very sweet. While I went to get petrol with one of the technicians who asked if I could take him for a spin, some of the group jumped into the owners Megane 250 and went out with him. Once back the owner of the garage asked if we could line up the Vee's on his forecourt for some photos. Clearly we could not refuse and promptly moved the cars around in quite a small car parc. To our surprise the owner then got one of the tech to bring round their Hill Climb Clio 200. A pleasant surprise and a nice addition to the collection.
It was then time for me to split from what I can only describe as an an absolute bunch of Legends. It was so nice in the first instance for the Mas Du Clos group to take me down to he garage, but for all of you to make the detour and give me a hugely memorable road trip and a nice way to meet some more of you. I would also like to say a big special thanks to Nas for being a top guy and allowing me to sit in his car for 12 hours!!!! Your a superstar mate and I owe you big time. But once again a huge thanks to all of you for your help and support.
Once we made our noisy exit for the garage it was time for me to head off back to London at 7pm. Once my nav kindly sent me via Paris to Calais I cracked on but was not as fortunate to to hit the tolls on strike like we did on the way down. Four hours later after having sat in Paris traffic for 45 mins I reached Calais @ 11pm. Got on the ferry at 12:45 and got home to London 3 Am..... What a trip but gladd to say the car ran very well and the initial breakdown was down to a defective fuel gage.... Asfor the rest of the group, they disappeared into the sunset "direction Bourges". Hope they had a great trip and enjoyed the weekend. a few photos of the trip for you to enjoy
p.s I have now witnessed body styling with French expensive white tape...
