FAQ and Forum Rules
Generally the v6clio.net forum runs along very happily. The moderators occasionally have to tweak a post in the wrong area or enforce our rules about advertising items (which is a right preserved for our members and fee paying advertisers only), but that's about it.
The forum is about open direct discussion between members. This does not mean that everybody has to agree or hold the same opinions all the time. Mature disagreement is something that we're all used to. Likewise a bit of cheeky banter might be expected between members since that's part of the fun of being a member of a good forum and the resulting social network. Occasionally a spark or two might fly since we're all human, but as sensible adults we should all be happy to move on.
There are some approaches to forum interaction that are not appropriate. Insulting or aggressive behaviour is not acceptable. Purposefully baiting or trolling in order to create argument is not acceptable. Bullying and haranguing by repeated inappropriate "humour" is not acceptable. Using PMs as a private channel for any of these inappropriate activities is not acceptable.
Whenever we see or are told about inappropriate interaction on the forum we'd always rather solve any issues amicably. Sometimes that's by suggesting a change in approach - if somebody's forum style/tone repeatedly upsets other members, then perhaps it's a case of changing that a little bit since often it's a fine line between dry clever wit at your end, and terse insults when read at the other end. Or maybe we need to get a bit more directive - "please drop this now" because repeatedly trying to force your view on people isn't the way it's done on v6clio.net. This is never about the moderators removing your right to free opinion, but is about ensuring that your opinion is expressed in an appropriate way. Usually members respond positively to this friendly word from the moderators and the world moves on.
Occasionally though we are forced to take stronger sanctions against members. This is never done lightly. However, if a member remains hell bent on following an inappropriate path on the forum, continues to provoke trouble because they're determined that their voice will be the loudest, or simply doesn't give a f**k about anybody else, we ultimately do have the option to ask them to leave or ban them. Typically this might be for a fixed period, but ultimately can and will be permanently enforced. We reserve the right to issue an instant ban if any administrator feels it necessary. If this is the case, an explanation may be sent to your registered email address.
Do we have a constitution or committee? No. V6clio.net does not and will not ever adopt such an old fashioned formal code. We firmly believe good judgement is enough to satisfy the majority of our users.
