How hot??

Hi just back from picking up phase 1 - number 0486.
It needs a air con recharge, how do I know... well it feels really hot inside the car, as i've just picked it up, i'm alittle concerned, but need some reassurance, is this just one of the quirks of the cars? or is there a seal leaking? it has a really good oil smell inside cabin as well after throttling it... no smoke etc.. but it does smell of hot oil.

I have not investigated further (yet) but will be looking into it shortly....... [smilie=bowdown.gif] :s

Gas capacity for the system is 750g +/-35g if you take it to a re-gassing place. (likely it will need it doing anyway)

My MK 1 did pong of oil a bit when I gave it some stick.
They do get a tad warm inside, especially with the window open I found.

Don't worry it's completely normal

I actually quite like it :D

Yep, Jackie and I have found that opening the windows at speed, draws the hot air & gases past the covers and over your shoulder, out the window!

Whilst we're on the topic of heat in the engine bay, is there an easy way of testing the side fan/s? I've heard the front fan working, but can't recall hearing the side one/s kicking in. Which kicks in first? Anyone? :s

With the windows ... if you open one window you'll find it draws the heat forward, but with both open you don't get that effect curiously!

Also, in my experience, side fan kicks in far later than the front fans. Forcing the side fans on takes some effort ... drive hard, leaving it idling and see whether they kick in whilst watching the temperature gauge perhaps!?

Much what I was thinking. Cheers.
