Holden Norwich war and piece rant!!!!!!

My experience with this part of the renault group has so far been a nightmare. The first time I took the car into them was for a new aircon pump which they fitted, however they would not offer a courtesy car and reluctantly got me a lift home...... this is a warranty repair I should mention on a car that was just over a year old!! Upon picking the car up they had done over 20 miles in it, the man behind the counter explained to me that 'sir we have to test drive all vehicles and we needed to make sure that the aircon compressor would be working at all revs' I F#ckin hate bluffers, I am a qualified mechanic and nothing grips me more than when a receptionist tries to blag me off without so much as an apology!!! The next time I reluctantly visited was when I had decided that I could not put up with the clutch anymore, I demeonstrated the car for the biggest mechanic in the world whom they quoted me as being there V6 SPECIALIST, he told me that I should'nt drive my car like that and that the clutch will slip if I do, also that I should drive it normally.... of course thats what I bought it for!!!!!! I told the man to get out of the car I was so mad and was busy doing all I could to bite my tongue. Shortly after the car developed an oil leak from the gearbox and I took the car back in to get it put right, whilst I was there I brought up the clutch and explained that it was slipping and they may as well replace it whilst the box is out, they were not keen but I pointed that if they did not I would not be going away and the clutch was highly unlikely to cure itself!! Oh suprise they fitted a new flywheel, clutch kit and slave cylinder as the clutch was totally knackered.... so much for their expert. I bought mats from them at cost ridiculous and was told that the normal 182 mats would definately not fit, to be honest I think they would and can't tell the difference myself!! When the car was taken in to have the gearbox sorted tehy were not even going to give me a lift home! I only live three miles down the road and suggested I'd have to find my own way but with a little coaxing they agreed to pay for a taxi to run me home and pick me up, again this was warranty work?! On inspection of my car there are palm sized splats of thick grease on the engine cover which has also got dents in it from where it has been left on the floor, the exhausts are not lined up properly through the rear valance and there is a rattle from the engine bay, not dissimilair to a loose exhaust heatshield. So then I take the car for a blast and the undertray comes adrift and on inspection it would appear the rear tray is not tucked into the middle tray hence how the wind got hold of it, if that had torn free and gone under the rear wheels who knows what could have happened, I might not have been typing this!!! I have been back to the dealer and complained about the faults, the ignorant fool behind the counter told me that the job sheet only stated that when they removed the box and engine that they only disconnected the exhaust at the manifolds so they would not have touched the allignment AAAAAAArrghhhh, if you don't know what you are talking about please save me the frustration and shut the hell up, I just wanted to smash his face of the desk. He offered absolutely no apology for the state of the engine cover and offered no form of alternative transport. AHH customer service and care at its worst.
beware beware beware, I am going to search further a field for my next service once they eventually get my car back to how it was, well almost as they scuffed the interior door grab handle and dented the engine cover!!!

Renault UK customer service it is then ?

Sounds like you need to find another dealer, they are not in tune with your expectations, which would be my expectations also.

And it looks like they fitted the undertray incorrectly as I mentioned in your other post.

Next time, try Wests in Newmarket. I have been using therm for years and have found their mechanics to be very good and respectful to the car

Cheers I will give them a whirl as this bunch are just hard work!!

Oh great

Ive got my MOT here soon!

only doing it through renault because if they find a fault they can fix under the warrenty which last another month.

this just fills me with Confidence.

Well the car has spent all day at the dealers, I dropped it off and waited almost an hour for my lift home, I had booked it but you get it when you get it and should be gratefull!! they had the car all day and when I picked it up was told that it would need booking in again to fix the rattling exhaust heat shield which in their time scales is upto two days to do!! Interestingly I thought, foolishly, that I HAD booked it in to fix the rattling exhaust cover?? So today they had my car all day to tuck in the undertray properly and flush a washer jet and thats it, oh yeah and they removed all the dirty greasy marks. Just thought I'd boost your optimism that bit more!!! I hate leaving the motor there.

How many 'test' miles did they do checking the undertray didn't come off at speed ?

Hope it all works out in the end ...

Well we continue the rant, as explained before the car was taken back in to have the undertray and then the exhaust rattle sorted.

Well the car was tucked away for winter whilst I moved house blah blah, I got round to giving her a proper clean and low and behold as I look under the car the undertray is AGAIN on top of the forward tray!!!!!! also they had buzz gunned all the wheels and stripped all the paint from the bores around the wheel nuts!!! This time I speak with the manager and we get the car on the ramp.

Upon getting the car in the air I realised that they had not only incorrectly fitted the undertray but had just Tyrapped it into place?!!! very professional, it transpired that they had sheered all the captive holders on the tank straps so decided to bodge it I guess hoping I would not notice til the warranty ran out!!!!
Also the rear discs and pads were shot, when I picked the car up originally from the clutch etc, I mentioned the rear brakes were binding but was told that they were fine, however now my discs and pads are shot just a thousand miles on?!!

So what did they do?
Well they ordered new tank straps and fitted the tray correctly (third time lucky)
I asked for my wheels to be repaired and the extended warranty by way of apology and insurance against a fault they can't diagnose. They refused the warranty but offered to replace all the wheels with new if neccasary. Shortly after I get a call saying how about rather than replacing my wheels they would powder coat them and give me the warranty instead, guess when they looked up the price of the new wheels they would cost rather more. I agreed and they sorted the wheels, no not in the original finish as promised but dull flat grey?!!!! I wish they had never touched them and just given me the warranty they looked better scratched!!
They fitted new discs and pads and told me that was a gesture of good will as they were wear and tear?!! I pointed out again that the rear breaks bind an argument ensues and eventually the car is back in and under inspection they find two faulty callipers and they are on order!
Now the warranty has run out and the car has faults they could not rectify so he says I can have a new set of wheels or the warranty? Wish they would keep just one promise. I can probably get a mint secondhand set cheaper than the warranty so its no option considering there are still faults with the car. They agreed to pay for another finish to be put on the wheels and am having them done in smoked chrome.

Do not use them they are beyond belief, probably fine for day to day renaults but no care is taken, since trying to rectify the wheels the bodyshop they left the car with has got white paint on the doors and steeringwheel I'm left speechless and it makes me sick to think about the way they treated me and my car which will no longer be original with different wheels but its the best I can do!!

Beware if you care for your car and expect the garage to care too!!! I will be going to a specialist as soon as this argument is finally settled with them.

Reading this scares the hell outta me, this is terrible, are all stealers this bad? Have you written to Renault UK explaining all the shit they've done?

This has really shocked me too though I did have quite a bad experience with Renault in Morecambe when I first took my phase 1 V6 in to be serviced they completely messed it up.

I now go to a different Renault dealer and they have been great. Think Renault needs to do something to try and govern the level of service given to its customers at different branches. They currently seem to be a law unto themselves. We have spent alot of money on cars from them (more than your average customer) and I think this would justify some sort of better treatment.

Stories like this just confirm why Renault have got such a pi$$ poor reputation!! [smilie=badpc.gif]

Better of sticking with the specialist's who take care of your pride and joy!! :approve:

I contacted Renault uk and spoke with them, they contacted Holden and then phoned me up to tell me that they were happy with the way that they were handling the situation and would offer me no more. The lady explained that the dealer had told her the discs and pads were a gesture of good will (bear in mind that they were faulty brakes which destroyed them so I would have never accepted paying for them because they were warned of the condition and said it was ok?) also that the faulty headlamp washer jet had been replaced free of charge... well hang on would that not have been under warranty? she replied well yes but they did'nt claim for it... this affects me how? the one gift by way of appolagy that I recieved was a new rear wiper blade.
The long and short we are a minority and despite the cars being high value they don't make much money off us and they couldn't care less!!!!!!
This whole situation has left me absolutely gutted and brings me down everytime I think about my car which I seriously enjoyed owning!!!
Thanks for the replies

Gingarus, i am shocked at the way you have been treated but don't let it ruin your ownership experience. I wish there was something we, as a group could do, anyone got any ideas? I thought of sending you the managers knee-caps but apparently that turns out to be illegal these days.

Seriously though, what if we at least had some sort of register of dealerships where we could post comments based on service/warranty experiences?

I waited 3 months to get my car back from a Renault Dealer - as per my post below and note cos this is Hong Kong there is only one official Renault Dealer to choose from so kind of stuck for choice!

http://www.v6clio.net/forum/viewtopic.p ... highlight=

Fortunately ClarkieV6 helped with advice so I could point them in the right direction otherwise I'd still be waiting!

Truthfully they are shocking in terms of customer service

This is why v6clio.net is a completely invaluable resource to all v6 owners so we can share our woes and hopefully give and recieve advise and look out for each other.
Big thanks to the all you peeps who organise and maintain this haven!! [smilie=bowdown.gif]

Yes I contacted them when the coils went on my vee and was totally shocked by what they said!
I was worried about my car getting onto a AA truck and he said yes the last one they had in(hopefully not yours!) scratched the bumper getting it off the truck but that wasnt his problem!!
So I contacted Renault direct and the AA man came out, he was great and agreed that no way would it get on one of their trucks, so he would get the part and fit it himself. Well the only dealer with them in stock was... you guessed in Holden Norwich!
He contacted them and they wouldnt let him have the parts saying he wasnt allowed to fit them under warranty and the car had to go to them!
Well no way did it go to them or anywhere near a AA truck as the nice AA man ordered them from anther dealer and came back 2 days later to fit the for me, all under warranty.

I finally took the car in to have the rear callipers replaced and MOT upon collection discovered a scratch to the door, some oil on the passenger seat and a scuff to the leather side bolster. I am no longer suprised by this happening! :(

I sorted the oil straight away and they sorted the leather and improved the scratch, also they fitted the new set off wheels, after much haggling over a long period of time they have rectified most faults and all the damage they caused, I got the extended two years warranty and also they paid for two brand new rear wheels, I paid for the fronts and now have the originals which they refurbed to sell which should recoup most the cost of the front two wheels.
I'm sooooo glad I don't have to ever go back there at last and the beast is safe at home gleaming with her new shoes!

THE END!!
