Help rough running

Ok so all of a sudden feels like its dropped onto 5 cylinders? Sounds terrible lol, over 4000 rpm the engine light flashes? But goes off before that rpm? Easy fix? Clio phase 1

Sounds like a coil gone to me !

Unplug each connector wire on each coil briefly, and the engine note should change. If it doesn't change then that is the duff coil.

..thanks guys i got a new coil from eurocarparts for £30 a valeo one, will fix tommorrow hopefully! [smilie=yay.gif]

a scan will give the correct coil location, i am in nottm if you are anywhere near and have the technology.

How the FU*K do you test the rear bank on a phase 1? If i take the plenum off then i cant start engine whilst i unplug each one?! The front bank are fine :rollseyes:

what i used to do on my phase 1 was make sure the easy 3 are all fine, then unbolt the plenum, swap the 3 easy ones into the ones under the plenum, then bolt the plenum down and check the 3 that were originally under the plenum, which are now in the easy bank

Its a case of checking the front ones first then the back which in the worst case has to come off a couple of times.

Sorted!!!!! Thanks guys front 3 easy, rear, inlet off and all top engine panels, loads of screws! I put the front 3 coilpacks in the rear then put back together. I easy found which one as when i pulled the coilpack on middle rear the top came off! So not an overly difficult job just time consuming. Access is very good with all covers trim off!
