5 GT Turbo Help needed please

I've got a Renault 5GT Turbo I've rebuilt the carburettor so I know I've got fuel I've replaced HT lead spark plugs and got spark does anybody know of a reason why I can't get the engine to start I'm a complete newby so please be gentle I think it must be something really stupid is it possible I haven't connected a certain sensor somewhere any help would be much appreciated
many thanks Chris

does it buck or back fire at all? ignition leads on correctly and in the correct order? have you removed the dizzy drive at any point? do you get fuel squirt down the carb when you move the throttle?

Yes I get a little buck every now and then yes I briefly took the air intake off the top of the carburettor and there is definitely fuel jetting in should it pump in even with the engine not running ? it Does not do that when I pump the throttle cable when the engine is not on I've got new HT leads distributor Spark plugs I did not take them off as my mechanic friend did but I have looked at many photos online of engine bay layout and copied exactly where the HT leads go from the distributor cap to the correct spark plugs

fuel should squirt in when you use the throttle.

you need to make sure it sparking at the correct time and the ht leads are in the correct order. sometimes they are 180 degrees out. get a few pics of your engine bay up 👍🏻

Okay quick question the coil is part of the computer unit I haven't removed the distributor arm unit from the engine is there any way that it has somehow gone out of alignment and it's not firing at the correct time even though I haven't taken that unit off of the engine i'll get some pictures uploaded soon

If you definitely have fuel squirting when you pull the throttle then it must be spark related, no fuel should be flowing from the carb to the engine with the engine not running though. Have you checked for spark on the end of a ht lead/spark plug?

yes, dont touch the cap. Remove the HT off the cap and put them back on 180 degrees out.
So the one that goes to cylinder
1 now goes to cylinder 4
3 now goes to 2
4 now goes to 1
2 now goes to 3
