hello from holland!

Phase II

Member
Hi i'm Roald a 1993 Renault 19 16v PhII owner from the Netherlands.
Came across this site trough team1916v (Welkom op de nieuwe site van Team1916V!)

Saw some nice 'how to' guides here, specially liked the turbo buying guide, Since I'm tinkering with the plan to convert my 1.8 16v to 2.0 with a turbo.
Really nice site with a good layout and good source of information (y)

here some pictures of my pride&joy

As you can see from the pictures the car is except for the exhaust, in it's original state.
I'm planning some changes, first remove that nasty black thing where some people pull things with like caravans.. :?
The exhaust pipe is from Remus and 1 of the 2 middle mufflers are removed.

Next up will be saving some money for some new alloy wheels, yellow koni shocks (adjustable ), and a new set of springs to lower the car a bit.
That will be about the only changes to the look of car, like it as it is.
The rest of changes i want to do under the bonnet as mentioned before.
And get some Clio RS brakes on there for better stopping power

That's all for now, cheers!

Welcome to retro really tidy car you have there! i love the way its sitting on the standard wheels though! koni's would be a perfecting touch to the handling

Prab

welcome, nice to see a lovely shiny car!

had a Remus exhaust on mine, think its still not been put to use tho.............

(nudge nudge Tom)
Yup well its a hatch exhaust. It may get fitted when I get round to it. At the moment I'm keeping the chav pipe cos it pisses off the neighbours, when I move to an area with any taste I'll tone things down a bit

haha tallkin bout making noise, my dogs can determine my car from the noise it makes even if i drive pass the house. lol

bloomin clean 19 tho!!!!!

Thx 8) I keep her clean :D

The Remus is actually not that noisy, makes more noise than a standard exhaust tough, but it gives a nice extra touch

This week i'll be doing some winter maintenance such as replacing oil+filter, coolant, brake fluid, fill up the the window wash and replace the front brake pads.

Then in the spring i'll do the the big overhaul with a new distributor belt, bearings for the connection rods (everybody should do that with every 150 till 200.000 km) also be fitting 4 new brembo discs+Ferodo Brake pad's, yellow adjustable koni's and some stuff i'll find in the meanwhile 8)

With a car hobby work is never over :p

It's been a long time since i updated, thought i just post it here so everyone can see the history.

What happened ? well on December 5th 2009 i had an accident with my beautiful R19 16v ph2, with this as a result:

Now that's really bad

After a few weeks i got an offer from a club member i could not resist, for nice price full body restoration with a fresh paint job!
I always wanted to do this anyway, the paint was fading after almost 17 years, due to wear&tear.
The bonnet had a different shade 449 color paint since it was replaced within warranty back in the day, the left rear wheel arch started to have some of the infamous rust issues, and the front of the car looked liked it was buck shot with a gun.
It took 6 months to restore the 19 16v to new again and I'm very pleased with the results.
And now the pictures!

There are still some jobs to do now, one of them is to install the trip computer option, as the reset knob was broken from the first one i had to find another trip computer.
Finally got one so soon it can be finally installed.

Well that's all for now folks 8)

looking good now chap, is that a "dead" phase 2 in the background to the pics? source of spares for you?

be good to see this as a project report so we can keep an eye on it (y)

That is indeed a dead phase 2 in the background of the pics, it suffered from a head on crash, it was not my primary source of spares, the club member used it mainly for his own 19 16v source of spare parts.
At first he bought it for the trip computer it had, but as time went by it got raided for all kind of parts that also ended up in my car 8)

I'll move it to the projects part, there will be more news in the next couple of months.
