Has anyone passed their MOT with all CATS removed?

Tim

New Member
Many folk have told me that it is possible to pass MOT with decats and a number of ways arround it like stuffing the back box with cotton guage or the like or just not doing anything and sailing through?

My father in law hasn't had a cat on his megane for 11 years and has always passed?

Can anyone shed some light?I really don't want to sopend 6 hours fitting the decat pipes I got form Scott and removing the upper collector box cats as well to fail MOT....

How do Mike and Tim pass their MOT?

Dont put cotton in your backbox unless you want a bonfire LOL.

I had mine removed and it passed fine but was only 18 months old at the time with 15000 miles. I re-fitted as it made no noticable difference in performance and the light pissed me off.

I think most modern engines that are well maintained and not thrashed are very good when it comes to emissions.

Plus depends what MOT station you go to I use a local one to me and we spend more time talking about his EVO and what he is doing to it next, then he does looking at the car. Plus he knows I maintain it and always keep it tiptop.

I ment that the catts had been removed since it was 18 months old b4 it first MOT. I was very tired whan i wrote the reply :s

Tim - can you cut the upper collector box open and chisel out the 2 cats in that or just remove the collector all together?

Second question - what do you do with the downstream lambda sesnors form the downpipes form the manifolds when replacing with decat pipes?

The other box doesnt have catts in it.

The landars could just be tied out the way, just make sure they cant fall into any moving parts.

Oh....mines a MK1 but I was sure they had two in it that you had to chisel out? Maybe yurs were taken out previously? Can anyone confirm whether the MK1 has cats in the upper collector box?
